I was invited to this but had to turn it down because I had a flight that night. Was that a bad look on me? I am assuming firms know students are traveling a lot at this time, but was worried about turning it down.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it. Surely a firm couldn't expect you to reschedule a flight to attend a social event, right? If so then maybe you don't want to work there...
