Drop out. They only want you to do it so that you increase their OCI numbers. If you are happy with your offers and not sold on OCI, there's no reason to go through it. You have great offers on the table and might as well just weigh between those two. Honestly, in your situation, I would drop OCI too. Congrats on the offers.Anonymous User wrote:Serious: Someone sell me on doing OCI.
I know that probably makes me sound like a jerk, but I ended up with a couple amazing/surprising offers this summer (V5 & V10) and I really don't see the point (personally) in doing OCI so that I can have the opportunity to gun for Cravath (no offense to CSM, of course). Career Services keeps telling me I'll regret dropping out, but... Why? I've met with most of the V20 firms in one way or another and I don't think I can do better than the offers I have in terms of fit, practice areas, etc. Wouldn't I be wasting everyone's time by doing OCI just for the sake of OCI? Is there really a huge benefit to doing it? Genuinely looking for guidance here. Thanks.

Re: 2016 Pre-OCI Interviews
I emailed my application to an associate at mid-sized law firm who is an alumnus of my law school. She told me that the firm doesn't know their hiring needs for next summer at the moment but she invited me to the firm to meet her and few of the other lawyers at the firm. Should I treat this like a CB even though the firm doesn't know if they'll have summer associates next summer. Should I bring resumes and writing samples?

Is it a bad sign if you aren't asked for a list of references at/immediately after a callback? Do firms extend offers without reference checks?

Don't worry, I think only a few firms want references and they let you know early on.Anonymous User wrote:Is it a bad sign if you aren't asked for a list of references at/immediately after a callback? Do firms extend offers without reference checks?
Source: I received offers without providing any references.

Had the four-interviewer gauntlet at DPW on July 21. Still haven't heard back.
Is this bad? Or is no news good news?

Same thing. Not sure if this is a soft rejection.Anonymous User wrote:had stb screener last week, was told that determination of my candidacy would happen post-oci.Anonymous User wrote:Any NY movement from interviews this week?
at least it wasn't a ding!
Now I seriously regretted reaching out to them pre-oci. Would have done a better screener during the oci week - at least I can get more practice before interviewing with them.

Unlike some other areas of life, no news is generally bad news during OCI. Plenty of firms won't get around to formally rejecting you until September (if ever).Anonymous User wrote:Had the four-interviewer gauntlet at DPW on July 21. Still haven't heard back.

Every firm is different. Some wait a few hours or a day. Others, a week or a bit longer. All i'm saying is that if you are waiting 2+ weeks its time to start thinking about your next move and not get hung up on a past interview.Anonymous User wrote:I had my callback last Thursday... Re: 2016 Pre-OCI Interviews
Anecdotal evidence that DPW got back 3-4 weeks after a callback with an offer last year. May depend on how frequently the recruiting committee meets.

Thank you. I appreciate your response to this. You echoed my original thoughts, so I plan on dropping out and doing second looks instead.Anonymous User wrote:Drop out. Sorry if this has been addressed before. Recruiter contacted me asking when I'll be available for a screener. How long after I respond with dates should I expect to hear from her?

I received a pre-OCI offer from Skadden, but I have an OCI screener with a different Skadden office that I prefer. Should I tell this office that I received an offer from another office?

Friends, what's the standard dress code for offer dinners (information wasn't included in the invitation)?

What are the firms that have not started giving out offers/rejections yet? Does someone want to compile a list?

Re: 2016 Pre-OCI Interviews
I had my callback the same day! To ease your anxiety a little, the recruiter told me after my interviews that the hiring committee would be meeting at the end of next week (which would mean in the next couple of days), so I should hear back by the following week (week of 8/15)hermionegranger6 wrote:bump. callback last tuesday (august 2), still nothing..
