Yeah. I'd even say this applies to women too.Anonymous User wrote:If you're a guy, not wearing a suit the first day is dumb since if you're the only one (and you won't be) you can always just take the jacket off and no one will know the difference

That's what I was thinking, I'll still wear a suit day 1 just in case. Now all I need to do is find chinos that fit my massive thighs. I stopped doing squats except every other week and I still can't fit into anything at Banana Republic.

This. I grew up working on a ranch, I have broad shoulders and thick thighs; nothing fits. Find a really good tailor, pay them to essentially remake your clothes. I shop at Nordstom and they tailor all of my clothes. It is expensive, but at least it fits.Anonymous User wrote:That's what I was thinking, I'll still wear a suit day 1 just in case. I'm about to head to school to study for an exam. Should I wear a maxi dress or shorts? Or jeans? I think I might go maxi dress cus it's the easiest option, but I dont want the 3 other people studying on campus to look at me weird.
E: Oh no, I forgot to use anon. Please don't out me. I might be the only person on an undisclosed campus wearing a dress who has an exam coming up.

Either would be fine!Rule104(a) wrote:Ladies:

I'm going to cycle between both throughout the summer. I prefer heels, but I'm also planning to walk to work and will be spending a lot of time in flats.

We debated slacks v chinos a few pages back, but even if you think chinos are passably fine (i.e., living on the edge), those don't fall under my definition of dress chinos. Those are potato sacks for oddly shaped undesirables that work at Best Buy.
For dress chinos that might be appropriate for work—scroll down to the Weekday Warriors. If I was doing chinos, I'd prob do those.

And it would still be a good idea to either ask your associate mentor, or just see what everyone else is wearing. When I asked, I was specifically warned away from synthetic blend-type chinos, and looking around, it was pretty clear that wool dress slacks were the norm.Glasseyes wrote:Ehhhhhhhhhh.heythatslife wrote:Sorry to bring up another wardrobe question. I think everyone will be too zoned out to notice. Sometimes a dress is easier b/c it's a one piece vs. anything else that will require you to think about whether this is suitable to walk out the door (ie. non matching pjs)IsThisForReal wrote:I'm about to head to school to study for an exam. I'm thinking of taking a bunch of Xanax to help with social anxiety but am worried if there will be drinking events and I want to be able to fit in (plus I like drinking). Does anyone have experience on this front?

Unless that's how your doctor described the dosage, I'd say flame.Anonymous User wrote:I'm thinking of taking a bunch of Xanax to help with social anxiety but am worried if there will be drinking events and I want to be able to fit in (plus I like drinking). If not, maybe talk to your doctor about an antianxiety med that's not a benzo?

Obviously check with your doctor, but I used Theanine to help with my social anxiety through OCI.Anonymous User wrote:I'm thinking of taking a bunch of Xanax to help with social anxiety but am worried if there will be drinking events and I want to be able to fit in (plus I like drinking). Do NYC firms reimburse for a cab ride from the airport when flying you in for the summer? I don't exactly want to pay for a cab ride from JFK, but I don't really want to haul a shit ton of luggage through the subway.

My firm says they cover travel and that we can submit receipts when we arrive at the firm. Given that we book airfare through the firm's travel department, I would assume that the receipts they refer to would be for taxis (and presumably also things like paying the extra fees for checked baggage).Anonymous User wrote:Do NYC firms reimburse for a cab ride from the airport when flying you in for the summer? Why is this anon? You think your firm is the only one that reimburses for travel?Anonymous User wrote:My firm says they cover travel and that we can submit receipts when we arrive at the firm. The only thing that is weird is your (and some others admittedly) obsession with people posting anonymously. Who the hell cares? The only time I notice someone's username anyways is when they have a hot girl in their avatar (like you) or when the person says something stupid/annoying/pointless like attacking people for posting anonymously (like you).IsThisForReal wrote:This neurosis is weirdstar fox wrote:Why are you being an Anon Police?IsThisForReal wrote:Why is this anon?
