Skadden NYC screener request. I didn't have one of those surveys other posters talked about but URM was apparent in my essay.

For anyone who applied to Foley's Chicago office, who did you address your cover letter to? Douglass W.J. Boyd?

Applying to in house positions. The recruiter's name is unknown. How would we address the cover letter? Thank you!

It almost certainly doesn't make much difference, though career services and random places on the web will insist you shouldn't say To Whom It May Concern, but I couldn't tell you why.

I feel like such a fuckup. I didn't apply early, and now my classmates all seem to have amazing interviews and offers and I have...nothing. What a basic fucking failure. How hard would it have been to crank out a cover letter or just be basically on top of shit?

There's still a lot of time to get a good summer gig. Don't compare yourself to your classmates, anon.Anonymous User wrote:I feel like such a fuckup. Don't sweat it, you still have time. Most of my friends last year were still interviewing in February/March. It's great for people who do have offers now, but they're just a bit ahead of the game. Send out some applications this week and have patience!Anonymous User wrote:I feel like such a fuckup. So are all of you sending grades everywhere you applied, regardless of whether or not they've responded? I sent out about 100 applications, have received about a dozen grade requests and one ding. Should I send grades anyway to the ~90 that haven't sent anything? All apps were sent out through a 1L job program that was supposed to only be firms looking to take 1Ls.

If your grades are good, definitely send. They could move you to the front of the line.Poldy wrote:So are all of you sending grades everywhere you applied, regardless of whether or not they've responded? Probably fine since a recruiter is unlikely to be sending you a response on the weekend anyway. If a week goes by send a gentle reminder email.buckiguy_sucks wrote:I was invited to chat with a firm but didn't email them back same day am I doomed they haven't emailed me back in 4 days now
It probably wouldn't have made a difference, but for a firm job you should probably be replying same day if at all possible. If they have one slot to fill (entirely possible, since most firms don't even take 1Ls) and they happen to fill it with some other gunner, they're not gonna make room for you. Same reason you schedule your interview ASAP rather than two weeks out; firms will gladly cancel your interview or callback if they fill the slot before you get a turn.

Haven't sent out a single app to a judge, but instead been blasting out 1L SA/diversity apps. Median (maybe slightly above) AA at a T14. Hopefully this doesn't blow up in my face.

My recommender is asking if she can address the LOR to Dear Hiring Manager and email it to me so that I can provide it when requested except for the positions specifically asking for the letter to be sent by the recommender.
So, what do you think? Is Dear Hiring Manager better than To Whom It May Concern?

I'm trying to update my Perkins Coie app with my complete grades, but is anyone else having trouble finding a place to upload your transcript on the email link they sent out? I am only able to edit my name, race, gender, disability etc via the link they sent out

Email the recruiting coordinator of the office (or main office) you applied to with your transcript.Anonymous User wrote:I'm trying to update my Perkins Coie app with my complete grades, but is anyone else having trouble finding a place to upload your transcript on the email link they sent out? Both are terrible. Call and see if you can figure out who the hiring manager is. If not then go with "dear hiring manager"Law1491 wrote:My recommender is asking if she can address the LOR to Dear Hiring Manager and email it to me so that I can provide it when requested except for the positions specifically asking for the letter to be sent by the recommender.
