Also, Bronx 3rd round is about 5 minutes long, and you're generally called right afterward with an offer. Not always though.

If salary was equal, how would people decide between BX, BK, and Queens?
From anecdotes and forum scavenging, it seems like BX has a good reputation for letting you get your feet wet early. Queens does too, but I'm not sure I would pick it over BX or BK.
BK to me is a little bit of a wild card, because it was known for being somewhat top-heavy and lighter on responsibility early on. And Hynes was...yeah. Thompson is making alot of changes/improvement, but I haven't really heard any insight on what if anything has changed the BK early years line ADA experience.
And DANY - has anyone heard anything about how long Vance plans to stick around? I've heard conflicting accounts from alumni

Well, that's the first issue. Salary is not equal across the offices. Bk = $52K, Qu = $60.5 (post-admission), and Bx = $60.5 (post-admission). So despite Brooklyn's new line from the hiring department that they want to bring on the best talent and rebuild the office, their starting salary is pretty bad compared the other offices.Anonymous User wrote:If salary was equal, how would people decide between BX, BK, and Queens?
Assuming you're thinking of Bx vs Qu now with the salary information above, they're actually fairly different offices. Don't think there's any question you'll see more action early on in the Bx because of the high crime rates in that borough. However Qu ADA's do a lot more crime scene, precinct, hospital, etc. visits the further along they get. The Bx has also had some high profile scandals over the past few years (see the big Brady fiasco over the summer), so it seems like Qu has a better reputation overall.
No. I know a lot of people in the office and haven't heard any mention of Vance wanting to leave. And DANY - has anyone heard anything about how long Vance plans to stick around? I've heard conflicting accounts from alumni

Thanks for the reply. As a young unmarried guy with no children, I think I might be willing to take the salary hit, if it means getting in early at an office that's going places. Especially if most of the talent is following salary, one may be able to distinguish himself earlier on at BK. But with a lack of info on BK it really seems to be a mystery-box...Anonymous User wrote:Well, that's the first issue. Salary is not equal across the offices. BX and Qu both have great reps. And yeah that recent BX issue was crazy to read about. But i'm wondering how much a one-off (yeah i know, it may not be a one-off) incident can tarnish an office's reputation (see DANY and that recent assault at a bar). Qu had that Dunbar appeal go against them, and that was concerning an office-wide policy, endorsed and defended by their current DA. Can't help but wonder if that points to something bigger...

What's the consensus on updating Office A with developments at Office B?
Is it wise to tell Office A "hey i got to Office B's final round" or simply wait for the offer?

Assuming Office B isn't one of two offices where it's basically a guaranteed offer (one in the round and one right after), then wait for the offer. If Office B is one of those two, I'd let Office A know ASAP.Anonymous User wrote:What's the consensus on updating Office A with developments at Office B?

That Dunbar appeal struck down a program which exonerated more arrestees than the Innocent Project.

RE Dunbar
It's a controversial issue. The program pushed the envelope, but that's what all new programs do. I have my own opinions on this and if someone wants to start a thread on this I'd be very interested in seeing what current/future ADAs think about this, outside the realm of political correctness. All I'll say for now:
- What does that statistic prove? The innocence project stat is limited in that they limit (...heh) their intake to cases that can be exonerated. I'm assuming the Queens program wasn't only asking about physical evidence, but also other exoneration material (alibis, self defense, etc.).
- If anything, I'd be interested in the statistic on constitutional violations. I'm not saying a pre-arraignment interview program is inherently wrong. But carrying it out the way they were doing it the first couple of years (you can see how the questions in the interview script changed over time) was creating 5th amendment violations left and right.

Yeah - I had a first round mid-Sept., and now radio silence. Haven't lost hope because no rejection, it's just interesting. Hopefully it really is just due to as much volume as they claim / taking care of people with biglaw offer deadlines.Anonymous User wrote:Still no word from dany over two months lost hope there

Re: District Attorney's Offices 2015
It's been 6-8 weeks since my most recent interviews with DANY (first round) and Brooklyn (second round). At this point, with exams and winter break coming up, is it safe to assume that next round interviews with either office won't be until January?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
