Re: Pre-OCI 2020
A bit off topic, but does anyone know why market-comp firms have different summer compensation numbers listed on NALP? E.g. in NYC: Weil @ $3,462 /wk, Cleary @ $3,654, and DPW @ $3,700. (Weil's in particular seems to be 180k divided by 52...)
Does this reflect actual differences in SA paychecks, or is it just an artifact of rounding / different ways of reporting?

Re: Pre-OCI 2020
Weil's seems like it must be out of date, but otherwise they're just rounding. I worked at a firm that said $3,700 and actual paycheck was $3,653 and however many cents per weekAnonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 9:58 amA bit off topic, but does anyone know why market-comp firms have different summer compensation numbers listed on NALP? The number listed on NALP is out of date for Weil. The offer letter says it's $3,654 per week.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 9:58 amA bit off topic, but does anyone know why market-comp firms have different summer compensation numbers listed on NALP? Just checking, do other people's Weil letters hold offer open for 2 weeks from the start of OCI proper?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 4:46 pmThe number listed on NALP is out of date for Weil. The offer letter says it's $3,654 per week.
For other Weil ppl AND people with time-restricted offers from other firms -- are folks planning on asking for an extension preemptively, or waiting until there is a pressing need to extend beyond 2 weeks?

Re: Pre-OCI 2020
For those of us that are just starting the pre-OCI process, should we hold off on submitting any applications over the holiday period (12/23–1/1)?

Fellow 2L so I won't pretend to have the answers, but isn't it a bit late for pre-OCI? Not sure there's much downside in you putting out feelers but my thought process is as follows...Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 4:34 pmFor those of us that are just starting the pre-OCI process, should we hold off on submitting any applications over the holiday period (12/23–1/1)?
First, your intuition that there's a holiday hiatus is probably correct. Then once we're in the new year, various OCIs will start kicking off — just did some quick googling and a whole bunch of T14 OCIs are smushed into early January. Even if your school's OCI is on the later side, I have to imagine that law firms (interviewing attorneys & recruiting staff) will soon have their hands full running those OCIs and CBs.
I'd be happy to be proven wrong, of course. The Zoomified nature of everything right now might make it easier for firms to slip a pre-OCI candidate into the mix, even as normal OCIs heat up in the coming weeks.

Re: Pre-OCI 2020
Agree with this, I think once we're out of the holidays we're officially in "regular" OCI recruiting time (granted it'll be January). Some schools have already started theirs too.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 6:08 pmFellow 2L so I won't pretend to have the answers, but isn't it a bit late for pre-OCI? No, not since the 'hang tight' email. Last week, they told my friend that she'd hear by the end of the year, so I think they might reach out this week.

Re: Pre-OCI 2020
Do firms at OCI, particularly OCI callbacks, ask if you’re considering any pre-OCI offers? Or other offers coming out of OCI? Is there a correct way to handle that if it comes up?

I hope firms respond more quickly after the OCI callbacks than they have during my pre-OCI callbacks. Waiting to hear is no fun.

Totally. I gotta give credit to Weil for consistently giving offers in ~24 hours (not sure if their rejections take a bit longer).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 10:39 amI hope firms respond more quickly after the OCI callbacks than they have during my pre-OCI callbacks.
