Well, future years of GULC should know that being well into the top 10% of your section is not fool-proof protection against OCI decimation, at least if you bid only on D.C.

Re: Georgetown OCI 2019
The issue with DC market is that it is regarded as prestigious even for people from Harvard and Yale. And given the far fewer spots available in DC market than New York market, being top in Georgetown indeed can't guarantee a job in DC market. This should be the same case for Harvard as well. Top 10% at Harvard does not guarantee a job in DC market either.Anonymous User wrote:Well, future years of GULC should know that being well into the top 10% of your section is not fool-proof protection against OCI decimation, at least if you bid only on D.C.
I personally think if a top student at Georgetown is interested in DC market but still wants to secure a job out of OCI, the best approach is to bid all New York firms (which should guarantee an offer if you are a top student at Georgetown), and then try to network crazily with DC firms and get all screening interviews in the DC market out of networking rather than OCI. That should be the safest approach.

Good question, I'm curious too. Have only heard of dings so far. Have not gotten a ding or a callback. I didn't know how to feel coming out of that interviewAnonymous User wrote:Does anyone know if Covington D.C. sends out all their callbacks in one day . . . b/c apparently some went out last night

Ding from Williams & Connolly
My OCI season is almost an unmitigated disaster: 1 callback, countless dings

Re: Georgetown OCI 2019
Kinda like Williams and Connolly's ding letter. First, addresses you by your last name. I like not being on a first name basis with the person who is about to ding me. Second, no B.S. about how the interviewer enjoyed speaking with you so much. Just pure and unadulterated ding.

I hope this OCI season prompts some soul searching for GULC. Our top 10% can’t get callbacks in what should be a home market but they still are taking 100+ transfers each year.

Re: Georgetown OCI 2019
One change I wish all dingers would make, however. Don't tell me you are "unable" to invite me back for further interviews. You are quite able to do so; you have simply decided that you want nothing more to do with me.

I think that good looks are equal to about a .2 bump in GPA at OCI.

Or maybe your inability to get callbacks is because you blame other people for your own problems.Anonymous User wrote:I hope this OCI season prompts some soul searching for GULC. Our top 10% can’t get callbacks in what should be a home market but they still are taking 100+ transfers each year.
