Re: 2016 Pre-OCI Interviews
I mass mailed a big firm and have an initial interview today over the phone. What should I expect? Will this just be like an OCI over the phone? Any suggestions are highly appreciated!

Re: 2016 Pre-OCI Interviews
Yeah - same basic questions. During a phone interview you can have notes and stuff in front of you so that's good. Also make sure to pick up by saying your name, don't forget to have questions prepared, keep your voice peppy but not crazy, and thank your interviewer.Anonymous User wrote:I mass mailed a big firm and have an initial interview today over the phone. Hope that helps. Good luck!

check out your school's policy about letting firms do pre-OCI hiring. From what I hear, some schools are against it (idk why)Anonymous User wrote:Question- Im at a mid t14 (think UVA) at median. Im at a school that allows it- I have had/will have 3 callbacks before OCI starts but they were all set up from people I have met with personally that pushed a resume for me internally.Anonymous User wrote:check out your school's policy about letting firms do pre-OCI hiring. Re: 2016 Pre-OCI Interviews
So, if we got an offer from a firm but are still doing more interviews at OCI, what is the best way to respond and acknowledge an offer? A phone call or email? And what do we say?

Call, Confirm your offer (I think there's a two week window), then ask for a second visit and say you are evaluating your options and want to learn more about the firm.Anonymous User wrote:So, if we got an offer from a firm but are still doing more interviews at OCI, what is the best way to respond and acknowledge an offer? Re: 2016 Pre-OCI Interviews
Serious: Someone sell me on doing OCI.
I know that probably makes me sound like a jerk, but I ended up with a couple amazing/surprising offers this summer (V5 & V10) and I really don't see the point (personally) in doing OCI so that I can have the opportunity to gun for Cravath (no offense to CSM, of course). Career Services keeps telling me I'll regret dropping out, but... Why? I've met with most of the V20 firms in one way or another and I don't think I can do better than the offers I have in terms of fit, practice areas, etc. Wouldn't I be wasting everyone's time by doing OCI just for the sake of OCI? Is there really a huge benefit to doing it? Genuinely looking for guidance here. Thanks.
