Poll options should be:
-NO, because I'm physically and/or mentally disabled.
and
-YES.
At my fedgov internship last summer the supervisor emphasized we should not wear suits the first day, so I didn't. Literally everyone else did, including that same supervisor. I realize now he was teaching me a lesson.

Yeah why would anyone not just wear a suit on the first day (unless explicitly told otherwise)???Glasseyes wrote:Poll options should be:

I have been made fun of by partners for being overdressed at firm stuff, and I have been made fun of by partners for being underdressed at firm stuff.
It's probably because I don't understand context/propriety/social graces though TBF
Probably best to always shoot for overdressed. Just dear Lord, whatever you do don't wear Oxfords on a yacht.

lol, come on bro, you know you're wearing a suit at foley or quarles or wherever. The running joke was always that brown shoes are still acceptable with black pants in good ole mke though.Serett wrote:This is why people need to go to the chill, laid-back Midwest.

I'm one of only 3 summers at my summers at my biz caz firm so I feel like none of the attorneys will care that I'm dressed the way they are. I feel like I'd stick out a lot more in a suit.
But if I was at a bigger firm, I'd wear a suit because thats what everyone else would probably do.

Sorry to bring up another wardrobe question. Something like this should be safely within the boundaries of business casual, right?

If you're a guy, not wearing a suit the first day is dumb since if you're the only one (and you won't be) you can always just take the jacket off and no one will know the difference
whereas if you you don't have one and everyone else does you'll feel like an idiot
