Re: NYU EIW Madness 2013
I'm the one who posted the link earlier. I think the Columbia data fails to underscore why it is better to have callbacks at firms with very high CB to offer rates rather than the ones that are 30-50%: the very same people could be the ones ending up with the offers at every firm. Remember that this isn't random sampling -- the same interviewees likely excel in all their callbacks, and vice versa. That explains why having 2-3 CBs at firms with middling offer rates really does not afford security. Four or more CBs and one should start to feel more secure. I think the 8+ CB is excessively conservative, particularly if you are sitting on even one CB that traditionally hands out offers to 80-100% of CB interviewees.Anonymous User wrote:Wouldn't that be equally true for Columbia students? And we have that data and it doesn't look like most places have an outrageously low callback to offer ratio.Anonymous User wrote:I spoke to Irene last week and, when pressed, she said that NYC firms do tend to over-callback NYU students because it is free for them. She said that ITE only people with like 8+ callbacks from EIW can really feel secure. Makes me worry about my 3 (which I had assumed sufficient, though not stellar obviously).

Have Skadden (DT) and Cleary (WG) callbacks gone out? I haven't heard of anybody with either, and yet the large NY firms seem to respond within 24 hours with a CB if one is forthcoming.

I also haven't heard from Cleary (LV) but had a great conversation. Maybe they're just slow to contact? OP here. I also had excellent interviews with both and am surprised that I haven't gotten CBs -- I have from other V5 and many other V10 firms.Anonymous User wrote:I also haven't heard from Cleary (LV) but had a great conversation. Yes to Ropes LS. Morning after.
Also have heard from 3/5 V5's not Wachtell and DPW. Wachtell to be expected, but really had a great DPW interview with JC. Pretty surprised there. Cleary also was a good one with LS, so surprised there as well.
