Is anyone else finding the GPA data that OCP gave us to be completely unreliable? As far as my experience is going (bidding NY), it seems to be EXTREMELY deflated based on what firms are going after this year.

I've found the same thing

Is it possible that the reported average GPA for callbacks is lower because some firms do callbacks in rounds, calling back people with the highest GPAs first and making their way down as the weeks progress and the high GPA people inevitably back out?

This might be a possibility and I heard some firms do this.

I'm not so sure firms actually do this. First of all, I have never spoken to/heard of anyone who got a "second tier" callback. Also, from my own experience and those that I have talked to, no firms have issued callbacks to one group, rejections to another, and been silent to a third group. Its usually callback offers followed shortly by rejections to the remaining candidates.

I've not found this to be true. I have several callbacks where I am below firm median, as do several of my friends. Some NY some other areas of the country. Then again, my data points could mean nothing. This could just be selection bias.

OP here, I should say that outside of New York I haven't found this to be true, i'm mainly talking about New York.

Sorry to go back to this, but can anyone confirm freshfields dings came by email? They usually snail rejections, and I don't think anyone has reported any CBs for them?

Just checked my mail and there was a snail-mail callback from Dickinson Wright (Detroit). Pleasant surprise considering when I saw it was a letter I thought it would be a rejection.

I can confirm a Freshfields e-mail ding but my situation is a little weird with them (there was some pre-oci contact) so if you just did a screener at OCI I think it may be a situation.

I know someone reported hearing from WSGR SV earlier in this thread but I was wondering whether it was from the IP lit or the corp interviewer (apparently they have the same initials haha)
