I think it varies a lot by firm.. have had 5 so far with mediocre grades (admittedly, I am a very good interviewer)Anonymous User wrote:Dunno about non-New York per se, but some OCS people kind of admitted it to me in general. Good interviewer is as good interviewer does. I was also a very good interviewer, and on top of that, I did serious prep, and then when I didn't get callbacks, suddenly I wasn't a good interviewer. Congrats on your callbacks though, it's nice to know that some folks are doing well.Anonymous User wrote:I think it varies a lot by firm.. have had 5 so far with mediocre grades (admittedly, I am a very good interviewer)Anonymous User wrote:Dunno about non-New York per se, but some OCS people kind of admitted it to me in general. I would relax re: callbacks, especially if you are non-NYC focused.

What do you call mediocre grades? And what range of firms?Anonymous User wrote:I think it varies a lot by firm.. have had 5 so far with mediocre grades (admittedly, I am a very good interviewer)Anonymous User wrote:Dunno about non-New York per se, but some OCS people kind of admitted it to me in general. This year seems really weird. Personable people with good grades have 0 CBs and people with medianish grades are killing it. The latter shouldn't be too much of a surprise but I am a little bit shocked that some of good personality/grades people haven't heard a thing.

In the 1-2 H range of grades with no LPs. Callbacks have been all over the place: V10, V50, tops in the region (e.g. places that are the Ropes Boston in their region) and lower V100 places that pay market. I do have a good resume with interesting, high-level experience but by no means out of this world.

I'm in this same boat. Tons of interviews, with only one callback so far. I bid heavily on NYC and am (or think I am) having great interviews. I have median-ish grades, journal work, etc.Anonymous User wrote:Good interviewer is as good interviewer does. Here's to hoping some firms are just moving more slowly this year...

Is the thought that interviewers might google themselves, but won't read threads about interviewing, in which they'd surely be able to recognize their own initials? MG.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Interviewer?Anonymous User wrote:Debevoise.

I mean, I think not spamming interviewer full names on tls is just a courtesy to them. If they happen to read tls, and see their initials, what is the harm? "oh no, I gave a callback to an anonymous tlser! sound the alarm!"Anonymous User wrote:Is the thought that interviewers might google themselves, but won't read threads about interviewing, in which they'd surely be able to recognize their own initials? Re: HLS 2012 EIP Thread
Yesterday, they gave dinner invites on the spot which meant callbacks. I assumed that the same was true of today, but wanted to make sure.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
