In light of this, it would seem that I should dial down my expectations a touch.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:
Can anyone else confirm this? I don't want to get my hopes up because I was able to schedule an interview with one of my first-choice firms where I was listed as an alternate.
Edit: And what do you mean by "but they've since accepted you"? Because I was able to sign up immediately - i.e. it said "Accept Alternate" and then I was immediately whisked away to the interview sign-up page. Unless you mean that they had some sort of preliminary list and then added the "alternates" to it prior to it showing up on symplicity.
Same. There was no delay for me between it being posted to simplicity as an alternate and having access to the interview slots.

Alternate here, and it immediately directed me to sign up for an interview time...so i'm expecting that it's a glitch. Doubt people really had time to turn down the interviews already (plus, who's really turning down interviews?)Anonymous User wrote:In light of this, it would seem that I should dial down my expectations a touch.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:

Also, very disappointed in results so far...expected much better.

Yea it's weird, shows a couple additional firms...still though I have a hard time believing it means much.Anonymous User wrote:Same thing happened to me. Let's just say if it ends up being accurate, I'm going to be very, very happy. But who knows if it means anything. Probably doesn't.Anonymous User wrote:Re: Wustl EIW 2012
This thread appears to be dead, but in the off chance someone might answer...has anyone noticed unreported (still pending) firms as showing up when you sort bids to "with invitations?" If so, any idea what that's about?
Possibly a preview of lottery? If the lottery system is automated, this might be a glitch which allows you a sneak peek at what the system is planning on giving you.

the two that showed up for me yesterday turned up today as invitations, and one was definitely not a lottery selection.Anonymous User wrote:Yea it's weird, shows a couple additional firms...still though I have a hard time believing it means much.Anonymous User wrote:Same thing happened to me. Well that sounds like pretty good evidence that there is some kind of delay. Why was different about your bids that one was not lottery...you bid it so low?Anonymous User wrote: the two that showed up for me yesterday turned up today as invitations, and one was definitely not a lottery selection.

I'm curious to hear numbers for those of you who are disappointed with your results. I'll get things rolling: Top 25%, secondary journal, non-urm, non-ip, 6 preselect, 1 alternate so far. Wishing I had bid more firms...

Ill add to this so future students can obsess about their chances. Top 5% LR. EIW- 14 preselects, 2 alternates. NY interview program- 22 preselects (had to turn some down to fit in day) D.C. interview program- 5 preselects. Mass Mailing home market- 2 CB already and screeners at all firms I mailed.
It reallty is feast or famine at WUSTL. If you do really well almost any door will be open.

25%, secondary journal, non-urm, IP...1 alternate so far. so yea, I'm disappointed.
Also, wish I had done the off-campus OCI's, instead of listening to some older students who say they're a waste of time.

Re: WUSL EIW
My .02 on the alternates is that when chosen as an alternate you get to pick a time slot up front. That way, in the off chance that a preselect does not reserve a slot (see above, top 5% person had to turn down offers for an off-campus fair; also if someone accepts an early offer they have to withdraw from all pending interviews), you'll already have a time reserved that fits with the rest of your OCI schedule and the rest of that employers already lined up preselect interviews. I don't think there's any glitch going on.
Also, wondering if the struggling top 25% folks have any substantial work experience?

Top 20%, secondary, non IP/URM, work experience, home market is completely borked so not expecting much through massmail.
NYC off campus- 2/16, 3 alternates
DC off campus- 3/7 (very surprised)
EIW- 5 preselects so far, 0 alts, 9 bids still pending.

Are you saying that you're IP and didn't entertain the Loyola Patent Fair? I don't know much about it, but I always assumed that it was like the IP Mecca. And it doesn't seem like the IP-specific firms have made their choices yet, so you may still be OK.Anonymous User wrote:25%, secondary journal, non-urm, IP...1 alternate so far. so yea, I'm disappointed.

Haha oh trust me I'm doing PLIP, and thank goodness. Did well with interviews there, which is what makes this so perplexing.Anonymous User wrote:Are you saying that you're IP and didn't entertain the Loyola Patent Fair? Two of my "invitations" became preselects today. It really does seem to be predictive. (As in I've not been denied yet from a firm that shows up as an "invitation.)Anonymous User wrote:anyones with invitations update today?
