Loeb hasn't had a summer program in NY since at least 2009 (and probably before 2009/maybe never, since offers for 2009 would have been given out pre-crash).

LA has hired two SAs consistently every year, though.

Sent applications ~2 weeks ago. Medianish, lower T14. Secondary journal. Work experience.

So far:
Email ding from Loeb & Loeb today.
Email dings from Patterson Belknap, Davies Ward, this week.
Hard copy dings from Boies Schiller and Covington & Burling this week.
Email ding from Patton Boggs last week.

Silence otherwise. Including from Jenner & Block.

If an interview consists of meetings with 4 attorneys and then lunch over 3+ hours, is it safe to call it a callback interview? That would make 3 callbacks so far, 2 as a result of good screeners and 1 being my first visit to a firm.

I haven't been rejected from more than 10 of the 60 firms I mass mailed. I consider that a success.

It's interesting to see that a lot of my dings come on the same day as 2L dings.

Have a callback this week with a firm I really like; the recruiter spoke with me over the phone and asked what practice groups I was interested in for purposes of speaking with members from that practice, and said, "Litigation or Transactional?" I chose Transac (it's what I genuinely want to do) but the firm is 2/3 lit and 1/3 corp (maybe 75/25?). It's looking to expand its corporate practice but it is presently a lit-heavy firm.

I am considering saying that I am open-minded but am leaning towards transactional if asked by the attorneys. I am simply worried that specifying corporate will diminish my chances.

thoughts?

I'm a 3L, and I've gotten one interview at a smaller firm (4 offices throughout country, 30-40 in my local office). I sent out about 200 letters and received a phone call from this firm just a few days after sending them out. Other than that, I've received about 20 rejections and nothing from the other firms.

Instead of the usual thanks for your interest but we are unable to interview you blah blah, it pretty much said I don't come close to meeting the high standards necessary to get an interview

Thank God somebody's still honest. Pretty sick of the phrase "While we were impressed with your background and qualifications." not falling for it

Cahill is very, very no-bullshit from my experience. I think that offers are going out now, and I'm sort of doubting that I would get one now, but I loved how straightforward and direct they were about everything. They're not the type to force a smile and tell you what you want to hear.

Yeah, it was refreshing to finally see a firm be straightforward. When I met with another firm's recruiting coordinator, he forced out a cheshire cat smile for 15 straight minutes and it was awkward as fuck.

Assuming this is the Haddonfield office? They're doing OCI at the local schools (at least mine), so they might just be filling their class size from that. I have an interview with them - T2 student, top 15% secondary, strong Philly ties.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
