Re: Let's talk about Atlanta!
Has anyone heard back from Swift Currie after a CB? Had mine two weeks ago and haven't heard back. I know another person from my school has received an offer...not sure if they're waiting to hear back about acceptances.

I know two people who accepted offers with Morris Manning. They both received offers mid-October.

Since this is revived, anyone hear about permanent offers yet? Word is that JD has already handed them out.

I have heard second-hand from students at UGA that JD and A&B have given offers, but K&S is still deciding. Anyone know anything else about offers?Anonymous User wrote:Since this is revived, anyone hear about permanent offers yet? Word is that JD has already handed them out.

The previous question (8/2 at 7:56 PM) and my answer about Troutman was in reference to permanent offers.gregfootball2001 wrote:I know some people who have troutman cbs later this week, so all offers have (hopefully) not gone out.Anonymous User wrote:Troutman has made its offers.Anonymous User wrote:I have heard second-hand from students at UGA that JD and A&B have given offers, but K&S is still deciding. Re: Let's talk about Atlanta!
Bumping this since finals are over and people at starting to think about fall recruiting.
Question: How do schools like Texas and WashU do in ATL? My school has basically no information on it. Would top 1/3rd + ties be doable?

It depends on where you are talking about. Not a lot of WU/Tx grads in the ATL area.

Re: Let's talk about Atlanta!
Thanks. Kind of regretting not going to Vandy instead. Do you think that it would take similar grades from Wustl and Tx as it does from Vandy? I imagine the lack of grads in Atl has alot to do with self-selection.Anonymous User wrote:It depends on where you are talking about. Not a lot of WU/Tx grads in the ATL area.
I'm taking about the 10 or so biggest firms in the city.
Thanks!

Re: Let's talk about Atlanta!
Some of it has to do with self-selection, but a lot of it also has to do with Atlanta firms' grade snobbishness. I'd imagine the criteria for UT and Vandy would be similar, which still means top 20% at least. No idea about WUSTL, but it's probably more in line with Emory/UGA.Anonymous User wrote:Thanks. Re: Let's talk about Atlanta!
Atlanta is a market that doesn't really adjust grade cutoffs based on school rank outside of the extremes (and when I say extreme I mean extreme as in Harvard vs. GA State). The grades you're going to need from the schools you're mentioning just aren't going to be materially different than their cutoffs at Vandy;which are probably a lot higher than you think.Anonymous User wrote:Thanks. Re: Let's talk about Atlanta!
What does this mean? Top 20% at any non-T14 school? I find it hard to believe that a school like Texas or Wustl would be looked at similarly as GaSt.Anonymous User wrote:Atlanta is a market that doesn't really adjust grade cutoffs based on school rank outside of the extremes (and when I say extreme I mean extreme as in Harvard vs. GA State). Should we use this thread to talk about Atlanta firms for recruiting this fall or is it worth starting a new thread.

Re: Let's talk about Atlanta!
The point of my post is to get you out of the bolded mindset. What I'm saying is that they don't have an exact science of cutoffs between the different rankings like, say, a NYC firm would. But to give you an idea, top 20% would be required for most of the T-14 schools--let alone those outside. And frankly, most of the top 14 are not going to get a different cutoff than Vandy and Emory in Atlanta.Anonymous User wrote:What does this mean? Top 20% at any non-T14 school? What about CCN? Would someone right below median be wasting their time?Anonymous User wrote:Atlanta is a market that doesn't really adjust grade cutoffs based on school rank outside of the extremes (and when I say extreme I mean extreme as in Harvard vs. GA State). Re: Let's talk about Atlanta!
Yeah, probably. Atlanta is crazy in this regard. A lot of the firms have UGA, Georgia state and Emory grads. Alums like to hire alums. They don't like to compare schools. (So showing them a smart kid from UVA with a 3.3 or 3.4 isn't going to do much)Anonymous User wrote:What about CCN? This seems inane to me. The competition at UVA, NYU, or Georgetown is on a different level from the kids at Georgia State...

^^^ What if said person below median (at T14 outside the South) has strong Atlanta ties? Still wasting their time?

Re: Let's talk about Atlanta!
Top 1/3 from WashU/UT-Austin is going to be really, really difficult. As far as HYSCCN (and I say these schools at the very least not all inclusive) the above is definitely incorrect. From my experience there is no real grade cutoff. ATL firms look for ties, fits and commitment to the area more so than firms in other cities. There are so few positions at the top firms that once you get to the HYSCCN level a lot more than grades are important.mr.hands wrote:Yeah, probably. Atlanta is crazy in this regard. For reference, I was a little below median at one of HYSCCN and ended up with two offers (out of 5 total interviews) at top-5 Atlanta firms.

What about top 1/4 from these schools with extensive ties to the city (as in, grew up and lived there for 20 years)?Anonymous User wrote: Top 1/3 from WashU/UT-Austin is going to be really, really difficult.
