They just opened a new office yesterday in Minneapolis. There are like 15/20 domestic offices which is nuts. I'm summering at a regional that pays 145k--wonder if that will go up...

I assume they'll match base salaries for first years and then continue their black-box, below market-compensation shtick for mid-level and senior associates. By the way, I suspect that some of these firms are going to partially "pay" for their base-salary increases by reducing bonuses.

Well yeah but a lot of those are in international and non major market offices. They've got ~600 lawyers between the OH offices, ATL, Dallas (being pessimistic), Miami, Detroit, and pittsburgh that are unlikely to move to 180k.

Question for everyone receiving news from their firms: are incoming associates starting this fall (coming off a clerkship or C/O 2016) getting emails with the news from the firm itself, or hearing indirectly?

Well yeah but a lot of those are in international and non major market offices. They've got ~600 lawyers between the OH offices, ATL, Dallas (being pessimistic), Miami, Detroit, and pittsburgh that are unlikely to move to 180k.
Hoping those regional offices increase to like 160.

So much for my hopes and dreams of a quick match in DC. If Covington isn't moving then I don't see why other DC-HQ'd/centric firms would feel the need to.

Skadden has 300 attorneys in DC and matched for all offices. Pretty sure the rest will fall in line.

Skadden and Winston have sizable DC offices. So do other firms likely to go 180 nationally, e.g. Kirkland, Sidley, Latham.

So how soon until CovingTTTon pulls a 180 to go 180?
