Out of curiosity, would interviews scheduled very late this month (27-29th) be detrimental for NY? Any insight will be appreciatedAnonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 12:51 pmAccording to Dean Ricardo this morning, GDC, Covington, and W&C have not moved. She also said that because of how DC timing works scheduling those callbacks around the 27th-28th would not have a detrimental effect on chances and could even be early. Hopefully this helps someone.

For the big firms, OCS suggested no, although earlier is better. I have some NY interviews earlier that week.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 9:33 pmOut of curiosity, would interviews scheduled very late this month (27-29th) be detrimental for NY? Any insight will be appreciated

I am howling. To be fair, they will be withholding my callback indefinitely.

This is the conventional wisdom from TLS/OCS, but doesn't match my experience this year. CA offices have frequently taken <24h from screener to CB, while NY offices have been a little slower.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 5:37 pmDid you folks apply only to NY firms or to other markets? Based on my impression and experience so far, I think that at least some other major markets, like especially NorCal but also DC, move a bit slower. And I'd imagine secondary markets move even slower still in some cases. Also, have all NY firms even finished giving callbacks yet? There could be some more coming Tuesday I think.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 1:20 pmI sure hope not. So far looking like a strikeout for me, too, if that's what you're alluding to. How long it takes to get a CB seems to vary a lot from firm-to-firm in LA. Skadden took like three days but GDC was <24h. Don't know about OMM LA specifically, though their NorCal offices have sent CBs already.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 10:50 amanyone bid LA market? and have they seen any movement? in particular, OMM

Re: Columbia Law WIP/EIP Jan 2021
(I'm the anon poster you're directly quoting). Now that you mention it, that makes sense and seems to line up with what I've seen so far from SF firms -- several callbacks within <24 hrs, one callback after ~48 hrs, and still waiting to hear from the rest. I assumed that the opposite would be true, and that SF firms would be quick with dings but take awhile with offers, especially to see if people already accept NY offers. I wonder to what extent this movement trend is a result of the process being later than it is normally, or firms delayed in making decisions due to the long weekend, or some combination of the two...Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 10:34 amThis is the conventional wisdom from TLS/OCS, but doesn't match my experience this year. I do still think there is hope for people who haven't received a callback yet, since it seems like some firms haven't moved yet?
Also, on an unrelated note, is it normal for SF firms to offer callbacks via email, and take a bit more time to organize the dates of the callback? I was surprised that has largely been my experience so far, vs. NY firms that tend to give a phone call, and have seemed to be more prompt about sorting out the schedule for the follow-up. Granted, I understand it is a much bigger process for most NY firms, but still. Guess I'm trying to understand if the time frame for SF/Bay Area firm callbacks is a bit longer?

I have 4 socal CBs. One on the same day, the others a day or two later. 4 dings and over 10 with no response yet.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 11:53 amHow long it takes to get a CB seems to vary a lot from firm-to-firm in LA. I'm hoping that the non dings mean that the firms are waiting to see how UCLA/USC screeners go next week.

18+ SoCal bids is ballsy. That must have given OCS an ulcer with their tired “rah rah big NY classes” advice. Good on you.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 6:11 pmI have 4 socal CBs. Dinged at DLA Piper and Clifford Chance NY by email today. Apparently, not hearing back until now is a bad sign.
