Does anyone know if general practice is for firms to inform you if you don't get a callback? I know that some interviewers who felt as though they had a special connection with the applicant reach out as a courtesy, but is that customary?

You haven't had a ding email yet?Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know if general practice is for firms to inform you if you don't get a callback? I know that some interviewers who felt as though they had a special connection with the applicant reach out as a courtesy, but is that customary?

I'm going through the same thing. I've gotten a few CBs from interviews that I definitely didn't think went as well, but without a ding email, are you in the clear (at least until it's a week or two out, at which point it seems unlikely that it's going to happen)?Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know if general practice is for firms to inform you if you don't get a callback? Basically, with big NYC firms, is it more common than not to send out ding emails?

Re: Columbia EIP 2017
I can only speak for myself but I've gotten 2 ding e-mails and have 12 firms that I haven't heard from at all (including 3 from Tuesday).
What IS a call back? Is it just 4 screeners back to back or do you talk about normal stuff?

No ding emails yet, but haven't heard from 9 firms, including two from Tuesday (Cleary NYC and APKS NYC). I think at least some people have heard back from Cleary, so I dunno. Talking to older students, it seems like unless you get a ding email, you can hold out hope, at least for a week or so.Anonymous User wrote:I can only speak for myself but I've gotten 2 ding e-mails and have 12 firms that I haven't heard from at all (including 3 from Tuesday).

I'm in the same boat: a few callbacks, but still waiting to hear back from 11 NY firms, including Cleary. I heard that Cleary DC sent out rejections, but haven't heard of any going out for NY?

I haven't heard of rejections going out from Cleary, but someone posted on here that they got a CB earlier in the week.Anonymous User wrote:I'm in the same boat: a few callbacks, but still waiting to hear back from 11 NY firms, including Cleary. Re: Columbia EIP 2017
Yes to both. 4-5 (usually 4) 30-minute or so screeners, plus usually lunch or coffee with some junior associates at the end. Be prepared to talk about everything you prepped for your screener (your entire resume, stories from this summer, etc.), plus general small talk kind of stuff. They'll also (usually) tell you in advance who you're meeting with, so read their bios and when it comes to question time, have a question or two about their practice areas to bring up along with your other questions. It's impossible to remember something for every single one, but good to try for some of them.Anonymous User wrote:

I don't think a lot of interviewers deny callbacks to people they think they had a special connection with.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know if general practice is for firms to inform you if you don't get a callback?
