Is this thread entirely a flame? Is the plain meaning of DF's words honest? Are the anonymous replies made in good faith, or on the implicit assumption that the discussion here merely repeats those had over the last eight years?
As an almost certainly unrelated aside, I'm familiar with incoming associates of at least one V10 that has offered to move the start date to mid-late September from mid-October. Of course, busyness has no correlate in salary.

I'm actually already on the 190k scale. 205k for second years.

In an offer letter I received yesterday they gave the typical "$13,333 a month" compensation was paid to 2015 SAs, but "compensation has yet to be determined for 2016 Summer Associates."
Not sure whether it's worth reading into or not, but there you go.

Several partners and associates on the compensation committee said "Based on current projections, we have no plans at this time to raise starting associate salaries."
I don't know how to interpret this but I think they're hinting at NY to 190.

Colleague’s sister was just offered $190,000. It’s for real! This new wrinkle will certainly induce lateraling. Makes me wonder if those who last year accepted a paltry 160 will receive an instant pay bump.
