Does anyone know if any firms in like the v50-100 range have stated whether they are matching simpson yet?

They'll have no choice but often are the firms that get creative re: hours requirements

They matched Simpson, not Davis Polk or Skadden. Which is too bad -- I was hoping for a bidding war, or at least DPW's scale to be the standard.

No one gets in a bidding war with Cadwader. The only firm that can initiate a bidding war is S&C at this point.

What do you mean by bidding war with cadwalader? Their PPP is high but have never been known for going higher on bonsues. Given my experience, most firms will just fall in line with Cravath because there is no reason not to

S/he's saying that Cadwalader would never attempt to lead market and engage in a bidding war with anyone.

This, and the market leaders would never attempt to match cadwalader even if they did beat the market. A good parallel is Cahill. Similar "prestige level" but way better bonuses. The wall street firms don't care and don't try to match them though.

Follow-on question to the question above (different anon): Do firms generally pay stub bonuses for clerks who join the firm in the fall?

Most seem to be start date (to the day or week not sure which). Not sure how it works for firms with minimum billables.

Wouldn't it just be a ratio?

X/160 = Y/15, where X is how much you will make in the year before taxes. Solve for Y.

Ooooh - this is interesting. S&C matches DPW. I wonder if Cravath et. al. will spring-bonus in response?

Seems silly to have a spring bonuses just to give midlevels and seniors (and no one else) $5k to $10k more. Far more likely that the firms will just match here and now. Also possible that they'll leave it as is. It's not unprecedented.
