Re: SEC Chair's Attorney Honors Program
Transportation subsidy is up to $250 per month. They also have a tax free parking program if you drive--you pay for parking, but the amount you pay doesn't have taxes taken out of it from your paycheck which probably saves you around $20-30 depending on how much you pay and you can use it with the public transit subsidy if you drive to the metro. Also, they have a bike subsidy but I don't bike so not sure how that works. If you're curious, they will also pay the annual dues for one bar.
I really like it so far. The questions you asked are all going to differ by division and where you live, but the commute on the red line is pretty easy from most places. My hours have been 9-5:30. I could see them getting a bit longer during busy times, but not often. Assignments have been a mix of routine and very interesting (related to new issues in securities law)--no different than what attorneys who have been here longer are getting, just with more supervision for now. It really seems like a fantastic place to work so far, but again, that will probably depend on your division and the people you get. There is no sense that you are in an honors program though (no special events or happy hours)--it just feels like you are a regular attorney.

Thanks for the reply. It is really helpful. The bar payment is pretty sweet; I did not know they pay for that. I was going to ask if they pool all the honor program attorneys together for training and social etc but it appears they won't (maybe its because most of us haven't started yet?). I am trying to budget ahead of time but it hard to tell what the 95k paycheck will come out to with the basic deductions.Anonymous User wrote:Transportation subsidy is up to $250 per month. Hi all, I know the application period was about this time for the 14-15 cycle. Anyone know if the 15-16 cycle was already posted or is upcoming?
