Re: UChicago OCI 2014
32/50. For future rising 2Ls, here's the full list:
1 GDC LA
2 Jones Day DC
3 MoFo SF
4 Boies Lit NYC
5 K&E NYC
6 Cleary DC
7 K&E DC
8 Cleary NY
9 Skadden NY
10 Latham LA (MISS)
11 DPW NY
12 PW NY
13 Covington DC (MISS)*
14 OMM LA
15 Sidley DC
16 Sullcrom NYC (MISS)*
17 Williams & Connolly
18 Skadden DC (MISS)
19 Grippo
20 STB NY
21 MTO LA
22 A&P DC (MISS)*
23 Cravath NY (MISS)
24 Wilmer DC (MISS)
25 Debevoise NY (MISS)
26 Irell LA
27 Steptoe DC
28 White & Case DC
29 Ivins DC
30 Wilson Sonsini
31 Sidley CA
32 Susman Houston
33 WLRK
34 Eimer (MISS)
35 PH LA (MISS)
36 Fenwick (MISS)
37 Perkins Seattle
38 Crowell DC (MISS)
39 Jenner DC (MISS)
40 Sheppard Mullin DC
41 Allen & Overy DC
42 Baker Botts DC
43 Axinn DC
44 BakerHostetler LA (MISS)
45 Cooley LA (MISS)
46 Freshfields DC (MISS)
47 Goodwin SF (MISS)
48 Harris Wiltshire DC
49 Stroock LA
50 OCC DC (MISS)
Question on the above: will it be remotely possible to pick up the starred firms in add/drop? Or just asking day of? They were three of my top choices and I only put them where they were because it seemed safe based on past years' threads, and I was going for maximizing total screeners.
Kinda regretting shooting for quantity over quality now, to be honest. I'd trade ten interviews with random 30-50 firms for the three starred firms.

It's possible. Generally, it depends on when they are interviewing. Firms later on have more add spots available as people doing well drop them.

Re: UChicago OCI 2014
You should be able to pick them up. If not via add/drop then by asking them. Are they on different days? Generally they will sneak in one at the end of their interview schedule--so if they come the same day you may have to prioritize.Anonymous User wrote:to pick up the starred firms in add/drop? Re: UChicago OCI 2014
I have a question about firms we missed. I bid a secondary market too low to snag and interviews through bidding. But I'm going on a callback to the secondary market next week. Would it be smart to email the firms and tell them I missed out on bidding and ask whether I can interview next week? Not sure if I should mention the bidding part.

Something like, "Unfortunately I wasn't able to get you through the lottery process for our on campus interviewing program. [statement about interest in the firm etc] I will be in town on [dates] if you'd like to speak with me then, but if not I'd love if you could sneak me into your schedule during our interviewing program on campus"
I'm not sure if what we have is actually a lottery, so it may make sense to email that to Woo so he can sign off on it or make necessary changes

Thanks for answering! It looks like one is on the 26th and the other on the 28th. But I have seven (!) on the 26th and five on the 28th; really backloaded interview schedule. Is adding another to that remotely doable?Neal Patrick Harris wrote:You should be able to pick them up. If not via add/drop then by asking them. Are they on different days? Re: UChicago OCI 2014
OCS will talk to you about this. Basically, you will knock on the door during one of their scheduled breaks and ask if they have time (now or later) to interview you. They expect this, so it's not a huge deal. Some will have time, some will not.Regulus wrote:how do we do this? re: too many screeners. This is really up to you. OCS is going to suggest not more than 5 in a day, which is generally good advice for the usual slightly-awkward law student. I know a few very personable people that did 8+, but they were exhausted after. I think you should be fine doing 6-8, just be prepared for a really long day.

do most of these Chicago/NYC firms ask for writing sample at the callback stage? If so, can any 3Ls shed some light on how much they might matter? Does your preferred practice group have any impact?

Silly question: when there are two names listed in one timeslot on the interview page, that's like separate rooms or something, right? Not a dual interview or some crazy shit like that

Haha yeah dude its definitely a dual interview - 2 on 1. I'd say 2/3 of my interviews were like this at OCI last year.
Also a heads up from people who missed firms - try reaching out to people you know there (alums, 3L's from who worked where, etc.) to see if they can help. I know that at the NYC v5 I was at this summer, the recruiting staff actively encouraged us to send them candidates. I bet if I asked them to try a sneak someone in for an interview, they'd try to do it.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
