Re: Northwestern OCI
I realize you said NYC and transactional, but you put a lot of Chicago firms with low grade thresholds toward the bottom of your list. I think it's unlikely that you will get any of those interviews that low. Do you have connections to another "secondary" market that you can bid? I see a random Dallas and Palo Alto thrown in there.Anonymous User wrote:Hi all: ~3.45 GPA, ~1 year W/E, all out on NY, would prefer transaction but open to both.

Re: Northwestern OCI
Don't know a ton about some of these firms but for starters I would drop Weil lower, move up Drinker and Fried Frank, and bid your full 40 firms. With your GPA, definitely best to see if you can snag anything between 25-40 so even if it is unlikely, you should get something down there. Vedder only has 20 spots and I think that would be a good target for you, so perhaps consider putting that above Dykema, which is more of a reach firm. I would also consider throwing Pircher on this list. PM me if you want to talk this out more, particularly about ties to secondary markets.Anonymous User wrote:3.1x. Re: Northwestern OCI
This is a good bid list. Nodding woodsman gif. I might move Simpson up, and either move Gibson up or remove Gibson because I have a feeling Gibson is gone by 20 (20 spots and all non-Chi markets included, including the sought-after Cali).Anonymous User wrote:3.6x looking for transactional, thoughts?

Yes. Allowed for transfers. But next year if you do 3L OCI, you'll have to omit your NU GPA (but can still leave on your 1L GPA). Confirm with OCS if you're worried.lhanvt13 wrote:oh wait, really?? does OCI say it's allowed?echooo23 wrote:

Re: Northwestern OCI
Gibson's offices are crosslisted, you can't bid NYC and DC separately. For that same reason they are likely to go very high (like where you have the NYC bid listed). MOFO is the same way, that's a shared office bid with only 20 slots, and they are really popular in norcal so there's no way they make it that low. Obviously lots of low bids are just filling up empty space on our lists, and if that's what MOFO is for you then no biggy.Definitely Not lhanvt13 wrote:Transfer here. Oh yeah I forgot to delete those firms. I was going to consolidate them up but both DC offices were just "let's just throw them on there" kinda deal. Any idea on high/low for any firms? I'm also thinking of dropping jones day DC, Greenberg chi (replace with NYC Wilmer?), and sidley DC

Re: Northwestern OCI
jones day DC and Sidley DC make sense to be bid lower, I think you have a good shot getting them there. The jones day listing is among other secondary markets that are not likely to be pursued by many people, and the Sidley one is DC only.Definitely Not lhanvt13 wrote:Oh yeah I forgot to delete those firms. Schedule says noon on Friday, and Aug 2 was Friday of the week bids were due last year, so it matches up.PBateman1 wrote:from the looks of last years thread, it was on aug 2GoCats56 wrote:Hey Alums, how long does it usually take to get our initial schedules?

Re: Northwestern OCI
So Weil just cancelled all of their OTIP interviews for Miami. Is this par for the course? Seems like a not-so-stellar move on their part since students are paying to fly down there and there are only 6 employers signed up in the first place. Should we just send them our resume again with a "Sorry we missed you note" or something, or just assume they already saw the resume and were not interested since they cancelled?

I would email and ask about the possibility of a Skype screener. For them to cancel so soon is highly unprofessional but if I recall correctly, their Miami office had some problems?

Re: Northwestern OCI
Wasn't an applicant myself, but the reason provided for the cancellation was due to a "conflict." If I were an interviewee I would be furious, it's disrespectful and makes the entire program look like a joke.LRGhost wrote:I would email and ask about the possibility of a Skype screener.
