Regional offices have to wait for "confirmation" from D.C. which is an unnecessarily arduous process (having gone through it before as a federal employee).
Do you happen to know what "confirmation" entails? The regional office at which I interviewed is at this stage, and it's taking forever.
Can anyone answer this question? What wondering how long it takes for DC to respond and confirm?
I'd like to know as well. I'm waiting on an agency's hiring freeze to be lifted. I figure it could be any day now, since the appropriations bill was signed by the President over 2 weeks ago. I've been told I'd be hired as soon as the hiring freeze is lifted, and my agency seems to have gotten 99.5% of their Congressional Budget Request.
So far, crickets. This appropriations bill was the delayed one from October, so you'd think the money would be available right away, but I'm sure the central office in DC now has to do their own internal budgetary process.

Yep. Do you know if offers have gone out?
I emailed the Regional Office today to inquire about my status/ask whether offers had gone out. I got a response in a few hours (not the one I wanted, unfortunately), but it was very generic and she didn't answer my question about whether offers had gone out.
I would email them to ask for an update unless you've had pretty recent contact with them because they are very willing to share information with you.

Does anybody know anything about applying for
attorney jobs on USA Jobs? (I'm admitted to a bar, three years clerking). I'm not targeting D.C., pretty open as to location, just want to work for an agency. Is it as competitive as HPs? Host of my application statuses haven't changed in quite a while in USA Jobs, so I'm wondering if this is even worth it.

Has anyone heard from the U.S. Copyright Office's honors program? They did screening interviews at the beginning of January, but it's been radio silence since, and they'd originally said they were going to get back to us in the two weeks after the interview. I can't really figure out whether that's their method of rejecting a candidate, or exactly what's going on...

I have the feeling that all the agencies are in the same shoes. They have to get approval/funding from DC. No one probably knows how the approval/confirmation works but the funding for most agencies should have been increased this year. But who knows when or if they will offer more positions.

Does anyone have any info on the EPA honors program? Apps were just due last week, but wondering when they may begin interviews, how many they'll hire, etc. thanks!

I just got contacted about interviewing with NLRB Board-side Honors in DC. I have a lot of labor experience, but I've never interviewed with a government agency before. Does anyone have advice? Any pitfalls I should be looking out for?

Congrats on the interview. My advice would be to have a good answer to the "why do you want to work for the government?" question, especially since you don't seem to have any government experience. I've had several interviews with government agencies, and that question almost always comes up. Good luck!

I just received an email from Army Corps stating that my application is under consideration and I will be notified of my status "soon." Anyone else get a similar email recently?

I didn't apply to DC. I only applied to regional offices in the North Atlantic Division.

DOT sent a friend of mine a request for references today. They must not have gotten enough acceptances the first time around at Thanksgiving.

My friend got an offer from a southern office. I should probably respect his privacy and keep it at that. It wouldn't hurt to call or email the hiring attorney at the offices you're interested in though.

Nope. It's kinda weird that they did that though. We already selected LA as a preference, so unless we already accepted something else, we'd still want to be considered. You figure people would just let them know if they didn't want to be considered once they offered an interview. No need to get a bunch of peoples hopes up from seeing an e-mail for it only to ask something we already said yes to inherently by applying.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
