Interviewed with 15 Chicago firms: 2 dings, 1 callback, radio silence from the other 12.Anonymous User wrote:Just so I can keep my booze tab relatively low this weekend, does it not seem like a significant # of Chicago firms haven't done CBs yet? I edited my other post above, but I wanted to make sure that people actually got this -
http://www.law.arizona.edu/career/GovHo ... ntents.cfm
(List of all federal honors programs and description)
Some of you may need to hedge your bets and spend this weekend filling out apps. If you have any questions about federal work, including how much it pays, pm me. I am sure a lot of you are under the misunderstanding that it doesn't pay enough to deal with your loans, etc., but a lot of these actually pay six figures within 3 years and have good exit options (especially SEC, DOJ, and IRS). And, a good job is better than no job, so email this link to any of your friends who may be having OCI trouble with instructions to apply by Tuesday.

Re: University of Chicago 2010 OCI - callbacks
I am not sure how it works with NY, but I have been told multiple times that callbacks go in "waves" for Chicago firms. I know that there are a group of kids with a crap load of callbacks 7+ but they can only accept one firm, so once these kids start rejecting firms may issue more callbacks. I wouldn't be surprised that ITE NY firms didn't start to use the "wave" approach to more accurately predict yields so they don't hire more associates than they can handle.Anonymous User wrote:mid 178's. 17 interviews, all NY. 0 cb, 1 confirmed rejection. With your GPA I wouldn't be worried yet. This process is going to extend into November.

Below median. 18 interviews in major markets. 3 dings, one CB. Feeling very lucky to have one at all.

Have heard similar stories from multiple people. That being said I thought my Chicago guy was nice, although no CB yet.

Re: University of Chicago 2010 OCI - callbacks
I would start mass mailing. NY moves very quickly and I don't think they have "waves" of callbacks. My NY callbacks have been within 48 hours, except one, which took a week to get and that was the "first" time I had heard of callbacks from that firm. I've already gotten 4 rejections too, some via snail mail and I'm not expecting the firms I didn't hear from to give me a callback. They're probably just slower sending out snail mail rejections.Anonymous User wrote:I am not sure how it works with NY, but I have been told multiple times that callbacks go in "waves" for Chicago firms. If NY doesn't do waves, why have some people gotten rejections from certain firms others haven't heard from?

This is a solid question, and the reason I think there may be waves, even for NYC.Anonymous User wrote:If NY doesn't do waves, why have some people gotten rejections from certain firms others haven't heard from?

Rejection snail mail received 9/4 from Latham Chicago (interviewer SW) and Neal Gerber. Grades/WE aren't an issue. My Latham interview was really awkward.

Just a reminder for those of you that have scored callbacks--use the Who Worked Where list and email people who worked at that firm last summer. Saying you've emailed a recent SA gives you something to talk about in interviews and communicates interest in the particular firm--which is something they really want to see at callbacks.
