Tell CSO you already accepted have an offer that you won't take New England firms over. They will happily withdraw you from interviews.MoonSugar wrote:NEIP firms also coming out via email.
I'm in a bit of a messed up situation now. I completely struck out for EIW and assumed my odds of any screeners outside of st. louis were pretty low. So I applied to government positions a couple weeks ago and already received an offer that I really want to take. And thinking about it, I don't want biglaw anymore (the money is the only reason I would even consider it). However, I just received 2 screeners and 1 alternate from new england firms and it says I am obligated to attend since I've received multiple interviews.
I was seriously planning to accept the government offer this week so I don't know what to do all of a sudden. 2 screeners are not good odds for a SA position and I think I would rather do government. Plus I'm broke so dropping a few hundred is a big deal to me for something like this. Do any of you have any advice?

If you really want to take the offer you have and don't want to go to Boston, then don't go. I know a lot of people who had multiple interviews and were required to attend programs and decided against it. CSO reached out to at least one of them, who literally responded verbatim "make me" and didn't go. No consequences resulted. They have no recourse against you if you don't go. I would, however, tell the firms in advance both so that they don't get as upset with you and also so that an alternate can get your slot.MoonSugar wrote:NEIP firms also coming out via email.

You need to go. Do you really want to ruin your school's reputation? Suck it up, pay for the plane tickets, and go.MoonSugar wrote:NEIP firms also coming out via email.

...Why would this ruin WashU's reputation? It's not like CSO is telling the firms participating "Oh yeah Student X decided to take another offer and reneged on his promise to attend" and I don't think the firm cares that it's not interviewing Student X, but is instead interviewing some alternate (whether he/she be a WashU student or not)Anonymous User wrote:You need to go. This is crap. Hiring happens, and I know of multiple people who have accepted offers at this point. It is a waste of everyone's time to go to an interview if you know you have no interest in the job.
I would, however, reach out to CSO and directly to the firms to let them know that you appreciate the selection for an intereview, but you have accepted a job offer in the interim.
No one would fault someone for that.

That makes sense. And I would feel like it's a waste since I don't feel confident that I want it. I just hate that now I will always have that "what if" feelingnjdevils2626 wrote:Just to further emphasize the point, in case original question-asker is still conflicted, this is definitely TCRJoscellin wrote:Anonymous User wrote:

I'm maintaining something like that for Wash U students only. It will be different in that it's user-focused rather than firm-focused but may provide some guidance. Data is very limited at this point, but once more offers and data start coming in, I'll share the doc.ek5dn wrote:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... =399774523

If anyone has completed their cycle (accepted an offer), PM me your info (GPA/class rank, journal, URM status, patent bar eligibility, target markets, # of screeners/callbacks/offers). In a week or so I will make the sheet public. Wait until your cycle is over to enter the data though, it will get too confusing otherwise.

Just received an offer from one of the resume collect firms. Does anybody know if it is OK to withdraw from most but not all interviews from EIW?

Yeah, just tell CSO but if you have high level screeners like STB or some of the Chi firms they will peer pressure you into taking them.

Don't know about the fair. If there is a point person that handles it (aka the person you get emails from) then let them know.Anonymous User wrote:Thanks.
