hopefully this means lower talent will get offers post-oci

Nope. T14, yes, but barely a hair above median. I just used my networking contacts from 1L receptions to get my foot through the door.

Met with an attorney for coffee a few weeks ago and bid on his firm at OCI. Did not get an interview. Reached out to him last week to see if he could have me come in or be added to the list. He asked me for my resume and said he would see what he could do. OCI starts next week. Do I follow up? If so what do I say?

I'd wait to see if you got an interview. And if you didn't, update him and then reiterate your interest in working there.

Just email the recruiting coordinator w/ your resume and transcript and say you met with x attorney, bid on the firm, would like to set up an interview. I doubt your career office would allow you to interview with them through OCI though; mine doesn't.

For those who interviewed at Covington DC, what was the turnaround between interview and CB and CB and offer? Do any of these firms reject people who've interviewed early, or will they wait to send those out until after the rest of the process wraps?

How long after not hearing from a callback is it appropriate to ask for an update? I am currently at two weeks waiting since cb. Also, if I do ask recruiting, what is the proper question? Something like I am looking for an update?

Thanks

Is there any chance to hear post-OCI about MM? I've sent out a little over 250 with no response at all. T20/Top 1/3. It's really getting depressing and scary.

This is surprising. Same stats here and I've sent around 100 and gotten responses from about half. Most were pointing me towards the online app, but I've gotten a handful of screeners. I'm not saying this to brag, but I think you might have done something wrong.

Make sure your cover letter is well-written and mistake-free and check your resume too. I actually took the time for the 100 I sent and tailored each one of them to the firm. At this point, I would recommend sending follow-up emails to firms you've heard no response from with updated application documents and maybe a paragraph about your particular interest in X firm.

ETA: Timing may be the reason for your situation. I started emailing firms on June 30 into early July.

Not to be a negative Nancy, but 2 weeks since cb is usually not a good sign. Rejections often come snail mail, from what I've heard, so your letter may be in the mail. That being said, I don't see the problem with just sending an email to the recruiting coordinator who set up your interviews.

Did you apply through both OCI and MM?

Not necessarily. I got an offer almost 2 weeks after a cb, but I hadn't hit the exact 2 week mark yet. Also agree with above that it doesn't hurt to just email recruiting to reaffirm your interest and offer any additional materials should they need it - my CSO suggests waiting at least two weeks to follow up, especially since it's pre-OCI and some firms may not be moving too quickly yet.

Thanks. It has been 13 days so essentially two weeks. I just sent a brief follow up asking if they would like more materials, etc.

I have some screeners set up that I haven't done yet in NY. I did some callbacks from DC firms. Got the callback invite the same day

I haven't done any of my OCI interviews yet obviously (I got around 20 screeners via OCI)

For MM, I've had more responses from NY than DC

P,W told me they would be making decisions next week

Awesome, thank you! Won't get too discouraged then until next week
FYI you would have probably heard something by now

Based on your OCI screener numbers I don't know if I did something wrong. I'm thinking its a difference in our schools.

And to answer the above: resume & CL both screened by three career officers and two attorneys. I wasn't counting the "apply online" as a response. I did get lots of those and acted accordingly. I've gotten over 10 thru OCI now (mostly ones that requested a cover letter) but still nothing thru mass mail.

yeah it's true that my school doesn't do so well with OCI - I actually only bid for around 30 firms lol. Are you mass mailing firms that are also participating in your OCI? If that's the case, then maybe there's your reason

Is it better to MM firms that do or do not participate in your school's OCI?

I just MM'ed firms that do not participate in OCI - I figured it would be redundant to apply 2x

At this point it probably doesn't matter. However, earlier in the process, interviewing with OCI firms prior to OCI allowed me to free up some bid spots.
