I got a cb from Linklaters the day after screener.
If you dont get an offer on the spot from Willkie, should I assume it's a no?

Absolutely not. You may be slightly less likely to receive an offer, but you're still in the running. For one, one of your CB interviewers may have been pulled in any number of directions the moment you stepped out of his/her office, and s/he may not have been able to send in feedback. For two, they may have you on an effective waitlist, where they'll extend you an offer if their yield isn't as high as they anticipated. (I certainly came off of at least two of those last year, given how long it took to get an offer.) And for three, they may be doing things differently this year.Anonymous User wrote:I got a cb from Linklaters the day after screener.

I only ask because I heard that Willkie gives you an offer right after the cb...
Plus another student was there for a cb and she went for an extra interview...

If I'm not interested in a place that gave a call back and I email them that I would like to give up that call back, does that "spot" go to a Cornell kid? I ask because there seems to be a ton of kids that get offers down the list and clearly only pick one. If you let someone know now that you're not interested, will another Cornell kid have a crack at it, or does it just roll to the next OCI.

Re: Cornell 2016 AJF/BOJF/DCJF/OCI
It may not go to anyone, as firms know that not everyone who receives a CB will take it, and they probably account for that when determining how many CBs to initially extend. If the firm does recycle your CB, IDK how the firm would decide who gets it next. I imagine it varies by firm.Anonymous User wrote:If I'm not interested in a place that gave a call back and I email them that I would like to give up that call back, does that "spot" go to a Cornell kid? My SO received at least one CB on the Monday post-AJF I think. It's definitely possible. However, I would still (a) schedule OCI [obviously], and (b) talk to Dean DeRosa [today].Anonymous User wrote:do you think more callbacks are coming or should I just give up hope?
Good luck!

I got one CB one week after a Wednesday screener at AJF. It was a V100 firm though, not sure if the bigger ones wait that long.Anonymous User wrote:do you think more callbacks are coming or should I just give up hope?

Are we talking exclusively about NY firms? What is the give-up-hope point for DC or CA?King Cayuga wrote:I got one CB one week after a Wednesday screener at AJF. Who knows? I don't think there really is a set time. If a firm hasn't called you back within one to two weeks, you're probably not getting the CB barring the firm receiving a massive amount of canceled callbacks from other prospective students. Obviously, every firm's recruiting department is unique.Anonymous User wrote:Are we talking exclusively about NY firms? PSA in case this is not obvious: If you're holding out hope for a CB because you're worried you're not going to get an offer, you need to MM now. Last year, about a week and a half after AJF, I realized I might be in trouble, and it only took 10 emails before I got my first CB through MM. It sucks, but I promise you won't regret giving it a shot.
