Yes, look in the Prosecution/PD Gunner thread.

Absolutely! I just got 2 interviews last year. I was offered the position on the spot at one of them. And it was paid.

Ding at Colorado Public Defender. 3L. Not surprised--no ties and scant crim experience.

Welp! Five PD dings today. I'm a 3L with PD/Trial Advocacy-heavy resume, so I thought I'd at least get a few. (only 1 interview so far). Pretty fucking bummed.

Spent the latter part of the day researching my future as a solo.

EJW giveth, and EJW taketh away.

Total tally for the day:

Thus far, I have been accepted at Miami and Mecklenburg. Pretty happy that I got my first choice (Miami), and not so bummed about the long list of dings at: OPD, NJ, NH, Lawyers' Committee, CO, and Fed Pub. Def. in Arizona.

Still waiting on Palm Beach, Bronx, Brooklyn, Philly, Fed. Def. San Diego.

I have a PD-heavy resume and thought I had a pretty good shot. OPD is the only ding that really stung, but I'll get over it. I really want Palm Beach and Bronx, so we shall see, I guess. Expecting more dings, but hopefully at least one more interview! I'm thankful for what I got, because EJW was a major bloodbath at my school! Good luck to those still waiting with me and damn them for STILL keeping so many hanging.

2L tally

In: Fed NY PD, Fed MD PD, MD PD, NH PD, NDS (Civil)
Out: Legal Aid, NoLA PD, NDS (Criminal)
Waiting: Palm Beach, Philly, Bronx

Pretty pleased, but Bronx is my #1, so I'm still really, really anxious

Thanks, I just wish these stupid hold outs would decide already. I just to know.

For all: How do you suggest applying again outside EJW? I may consider doing that with OPD. Do you literally just use the same CL/ resume? Do you mention the ding from EJW?

You too....I feel like nothing is for sure. Everyone that I know going to EJW is a rockstar, so it seems like the interview is still a huge hurdle.

Want to know this question as well. I definitely want to re-apply to Colorado and Orleans, and I'm thinking about rewriting my cover letter and revamping my resume to tailor to both. But I'm not sure how to re-word the cover letter.

Also, accept at NJ, Miami, Hannepin, and Mecklenburg.

3L, rejected at Miami and Mecklenburg, accepted at CO. CO was the only one of the three I really wanted, but still sucks. This whole thing is a crap-shoot, I don't buy any of the holistic bullshit everyone seems to push.

Yes. I think you have to click on your interview time, and there should be an option to change.

None, never been to the state, no real personalization for the cover letter. Just said I'd like to be a PD, I hear you guys are good.

This is an example of how the selections are a total black box. How the hell do they distinguish between hundreds of these exact same cover letters with similar resumes? Makes no sense to me. I feel like they just pick names out of a hat.
