Yeah. I got the offer to be one. Depends on the firm, obviously.Anonymous User wrote:do mid-law firms take 2L's for the summer?Anonymous User wrote:Got market paying midlaw offer in 2ndary market. For me I guess it is time to start spamming the just as elusive "midlaw" firms in regions where I have connections. Anyone know the best way to do this? Is the approach any different than mass mailing biglaw firms?
edit: although it's a midsize firm, it's one of the bigger players in the market.

Check out secondary markets on NALP. Also past state Law Journals usually have a summer associate edition and will give you an idea of the hiring (at least my state did). Although I'd consider most of these firms more "regional biglaw" than MidLaw, they're all certainly better than "strike out" (and if you have good credentials, they are likely still hiring).Anonymous User wrote:do mid-law firms take 2L's for the summer?Anonymous User wrote:Got market paying midlaw offer in 2ndary market. I want to follow up with a firm where I had a callback 3+ weeks ago. Is it better to just wait or follow up?

I'd follow up.Anonymous User wrote:I want to follow up with a firm where I had a callback 3+ weeks ago. Is it better to just wait or follow up?
My experience is that following up can lead to a quick ding and can lead to a quick offer. But I just don't see any possible downside.

Nothing.
I've left the USS Worried and jumped straight on the USS Giving Up on Legal Employment.

Please do not do that, you're in a very enviable position - keep looking, there are various firms that hire much, much later in the year. While they are not market paying and likely not NLJ250, a solid 2L clerkship will pay some bills and you should be in a great position for clerkships next year if you can maintain your gpa.Anonymous User wrote:T35 4%/LR. Thanks for the vote of confidence. I personally just wish that I'd understood two years ago that "bad legal market" meant that a 165 LSAT = never being a "real" lawyer (biglaw, government, major public interest), no matter how well I did afterwards.Indifferent wrote:Please do not do that, you're in a very enviable position - keep looking, there are various firms that hire much, much later in the year. When law school's over, I'll just do med school. It's by no means what I wanted to do as a career, but I've got the numbers, and it'll actually pay the loans.

how many law firms offices did you apply to....there are a total of ~1300 firm offices with 35 or more attorneys. you have the grades, so it's a number's game... just keep applying....Anonymous User wrote:Thanks for the vote of confidence. also, you may just have a systematic problem with interviewing, so you're going to need to read a book or two on how to interview.... even if you do end up trying to go to med school, you have to interview to be accepted so either way it'll be worth it to learn how

If you're going to go to med school, i would just drop out now and start getting ready to go. Med school is expensive, time consuming and will eat up your life. Best not to waste any more money with law school tuition.Anonymous User wrote:Thanks for the vote of confidence. Re: No Offers Yet- All Aboard the USS Worried
Legal recruiter of a firm called me about a week after my callback, saying multiple times I was one of the firm's top candidates and the committee had great things to say about me, but the firm needed to be fair and conduct its last set of callbacks before extending offers. It's been one week, and I heard recently the firm extended an offer to a student from another school. Haven't heard of offers from my own school yet. Not sure if this firm extends all offers at once.
Does this mean I'm out? And do legal recruiters usually leave voicemails like that...?

I emailed them asking for an update on Monday. They told me I'd hear from them the next week. Then I get a rejection in the mail- dated that Monday.
What in blazes is that?
