Straight P's here; 0 CBs; snail-mail dings from Latham SF, Pillsbury Winthrop SF, Miller Nash, Davis Polk SF; phone ding from Orrick (really?); one call from a restricted number that turned out to be a wrong number

Now I knew my grades weren't up to snuff going in, but I had the area ties, and I ran my bid list by the recruiters OCS made available. On top of that, I spent the better part of the summer reading career books, researching my firms (because I read that enthusiasm makes up for grades,) and rehearsing interviews. Did the mock interview and then another one immediately prior to EIP, and that went great. So I don't know what happened.

It's 9 a.m. and I need a drink. Or an academic advisor. But mostly a drink.

I think that the H/P system might not be that good for us in this economy. You could theoretically be at median in every class, but straight Ps still don't look so good.

Anyone heard from Gibson Dunn (DC) or Kirkland (DC)?

Received a CB from Kirkland DC a while back (Thursday or Friday of last week). Interviewed with both Gibson NYC and DC, received a phone CB from Gibson NYC where some vague mentions were made about how the CB would be firm-wide and hence I might not need to interview explicitly with DC?

Does the time when you receive a callback depend on your individual interviewer, or is it safe to assume that if others have received callbacks from a particular firm and you haven't, you're screwed?

I have gotten the following dings from DC over the last week or so: pillsbury, hogan (today via snail mail), wiley rein, venable, patton boggs, fried frank, akin gump, covington (today via snail mail), ropes & gray (today via snail mail).

4 h's, more than one of which was a dean's scholar

I think they were long enough ago that it would be pretty unlikely to get one- I heard they went out friday afternoon.

King & Spalding DC, Mayer Brown DC, and Covington DC dings today via snail. Covington ding letter was by far the warmest and fuzziest I've gotten so far, which I think actually made me feel worse (sure I'll apply again next year when I graduate, let's see how that goes...)

Anyone else notice that HLS has official GPAs again? (DS = 5, H = 4, etc.)

Really? When did that happen? Last I checked it was a -1 to 1 GPA, with DS counting only as a tiebreaker for honors.

They just revised the 2010-11 Academic Policies. Now summa is 4.75+ or top 1% if nobody has 4.75+, and then the rest are done as straight percentages based on GPA cutoffs.

Durrr... Wasn't the whole point of removing letter grades to remove GPAs? If we have GPAs, why don't we have letter grades?
