I am grateful to have a good number of cbs - everyone who doesn't should stay aggressive and optimistic - direct app and network as much as possible. Remember you go to a great school and are in a better position than 99% of law students. These places would be lucky to have any one of us on board so keep pushing and your effort will pay off.Anonymous User wrote:I have 3, but all three were reaches for me, so I am not sure how much good it will do me. The thing to realize is that ITE, it's not like everyone is scaling by hiring by 1/2. It's like the top firms are scaling back by 1/3 and the other firms aren't hiring anyone at all. So your reaches aren't necessarily reaches --- they're hiring people within a certain GPA band and it's pretty big (relatively speaking) and you're obviously within it.Anonymous User wrote:I have 3, but all three were reaches for me, so I am not sure how much good it will do me. That explains the whole "have and have not" issue. If you're in the big-firm GPA range and do a good interview, you get a ton of callbacks because you meet the criteria for the top firms and those firms are still hiring a bunch of people. If you're outside that range, you get just a couple here or there.

I just heard back from them tonight via email for a callback. Don't hate me, it's the only callback I got in Chicago out of 14 interviews.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone heard back from Baker McKenzie? I can't seem to find anything on them here or elsewhere.

just fyi - at one firm, each CB interviewer rates applicants on a scale of 1-5. A sufficiently high score gets an offer within a few days, sufficiently low score is a ding, in the middle they take a few weeks to decide.

Can you tell us which firm does this? Does anyone else know of firms who typically work this way?Anonymous User wrote:just fyi - at one firm, each CB interviewer rates applicants on a scale of 1-5. 10 NY OCI interviews, 10 NY callbacks (plus 1 NY resume drop CB)
9 CHI OCI interviews, 5 CHI callbacks (plus 1 CHI resume drop CB)
I only resume dropped for a few places.
I think it's either going really well or really poorly for people, based on the classic grades+good work experience+interviewing skills combo. Wishing good luck to those who are not finding the process as fruitful so far.

It seems as though we have a lot of "collectors" out there. I have a few friends with 15+ CBs who continue to apply to firms that did not come to OCI with the hopes of getting their total CB # up to 20.

Are they just saying they want to pull 20 CBs for the sake of a round number?Anonymous User wrote:It seems as though we have a lot of "collectors" out there. I've got 10 CBs and I certainly don't feel safe. It is not unprecedented to have more and not pull anything.
I don't think you know their motives. Maybe they bid conservatively because they wanted to be safe, and now are trying to get reach firms they would love to work at but didn't feel comfortable spending an OCI slot on.

Re: Northwestern 2010 OCI Callbacks Thread
I concur with the above poster. I have 14 CBs and likewise do not feel safe. Overall, I bid very conservatively and a handful of my CBs are in a market where firms only offer a 6-week summer program and the historical offer rate is much lower (than say New York) and split summers are expected.Anonymous User wrote:Are they just saying they want to pull 20 CBs for the sake of a round number?Anonymous User wrote:It seems as though we have a lot of "collectors" out there. Re: Northwestern 2010 OCI Callbacks Thread
Has anyone actually heard from firms that took part in the Northwestern Resume Drop program? I received an email from Stroock a couple of weeks ago requesting additional information, but have yet to hear from any other firms (despite having an overall successfull OCI campaign).
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
