Fine, I don't care if other associates have said this and an associate I did a screener with who went to a litigation boutique from a large firm also said this, I stand by this assessment myself.

Just lol @ cb_burns, who threatened another poster with violence and death for posting about grades.

Again, if you guys have beef, take it to PM, or just ignore each other. This isn't the thread for you guys to hash it out in.

on to more relevant topics: has anyone been in touch with CCD to figure out what's been going on with Simpson? Actually, CCD (and the Deans) have not been responding to emails lately. I get that they're busy, but still....

Who knows. My guess is if the delay is on Simpson's end that their recruitment office is trying to balance their off-campus and OCI screen offers to make sure they aren't double inviting people. I feel like it's also just as likely that CCD is dragging their feet, considering I've also had difficulty trying to get in contact with them lately. Hopefully results will come out soon though because pre-select sign-ups are supposed to close tomorrow at 9pm (or that they'll offer some kind of extension for selecting pre-selects that haven't come back yet).

Anyone know if wash u offers any travel stipends? I got invited for a screener from a resume collect but idk how I feel about dropping $500+ for a single screener and it's coming up pretty soon.

Anyone having any mass mail success? I've got a few "we will be in touch in August" type responses.

As far as I know, for off campus programs and screeners, you are on your own. Doesn't hurt to ask though.

Yeah, but I've also gotten a ton of firms saying they don't start reviewing until August (which is probably true for most 100-300 attorney firms).

Boutiques are great for people who want litigation because you work closely with senior associates and partners (whereas in STB you might glance one at a firm event) and get substantive experience very early on. An Axinn associate will be in court years before an STB one.
Also worth mentioning that they specialize in antitrust, along with a substantial IP footprint.
Why is antitrust or IP footprint worth mentioning?
The original question was asking about who Axinn was. PnJ did a good job discussing the fact that they're a lit boutique, and I felt it was worth mentioning that they focus on antitrust lit and IP, being most famous for their Antitrust work.

Seems like useful information? Just trying to be helpful.
this was helpful to me, thank you!!

do we find out who our screeners are (the people) from off campus programs like SEMW and MCGC? I have heard that for OCI they let us know, but wasn't sure how off-campus programs worked

edited bc apparently I can't spell while multitasking

Some firms have it if you click into interview detail page. I guess the rest would come out as it gets closer to the interview date?

Most you'll probably find out beforehand through this method as the dates get closer. Some will simply not know who will attend (or might change interviewers) the program until a day or two before as schedules move around constantly. I'd suggest arriving early enough that you can check in at the front desk and ask who will be interviewing for all your interviews so that if it's a new name you have time to look into them a little bit using your phone. It won't be as good as the research you could have done with a laptop in advance, but it'll more than suffice

It is quite strange to do screeners at the firm especially for a firm not in the city. Can you ask the firm to do a phone or skype screening instead. If they are interested, they can always fly you out afterwards for a call back interview.

Sure, you can ask but the point is that you get a chance with firms who wouldn't otherwise bother with WUSTL kids. It's not worth the time for cravath to come to St. Louis but if a few schools get together they'll walk over to Times Square for it. Same idea for a walk around and Kirkland or Sidley or whatever.

I think this is like a massmail, not one of the programs. Why not make a trip out of it? It's a good way to show "ties" to other firms if you already are going to the city. I presume your resume is somewhat competitive if you got the initial resume collect.

Well, I do have extensive ties to the city. Problem is, it's a very small secondary market, albeit the largest firm in that market, and the interview would be in their office a week from now even though I was selected and informed about it very recently. Career services isn't responding but I'll call them and see if I can maybe skype or something. I'm in STL for the summer and would also have to take time off work on very short notice at this point.

I would try massmailing other firms in that city asap, telling them you will be in that city on that day, and ask for interviews.

Dropped two SEMW NY interviews due to duplicate interviews with the firm. Hoping they go to someone here!

Can you let us know (or PM) which? I have a few duplicates for different cities that I'm not sure if I should drop or not.

PM'd. General rule of thumb is that if it's same firm and same office, you need to drop it down to just one screener. Recruiting may not have caught it yet, but they will when they're evaluating screeners and making callbacks, and they'll look unfavorably on someone who kept multiple screeners with the same office.

NEIP firms also coming out via email.

I'm in a bit of a messed up situation now. I completely struck out for EIW and assumed my odds of any screeners outside of st. louis were pretty low. So I applied to government positions a couple weeks ago and already received an offer that I really want to take. And thinking about it, I don't want biglaw anymore (the money is the only reason I would even consider it). However, I just received 2 screeners and 1 alternate from new england firms and it says I am obligated to attend since I've received multiple interviews.

I was seriously planning to accept the government offer this week so I don't know what to do all of a sudden. 2 screeners are not good odds for a SA position and I think I would rather do government. Plus I'm broke so dropping a few hundred is a big deal to me for something like this. Do any of you have any advice?
