Question. I currently have 8 interviews on Wednesday. I don't think it should be too bad, but I'm now trying to solicit some more interviews with firms that I missed through bidding and couldn't get via open slot. A few of the firms that I'm particularly eyeing are on Tuesday. Would it be too much to take on 9 interviews in one day? And if not, what is the best way to mentally prepare yourself for that kind of day.


For full disclosure I'm at 6,8,2 over the 3 days.

ETA: I've already sent out a soliciting e-mail to a firm that is coming on Tuesday, so my total could be at 9, potentially, meaning any more may slide me into 10. At what point should I draw the line?

9 Should be fine, as long as you are adequately spaced out. I know people that had as many as 11 in one day, and they made it work. You may just have to try a bit harder to remember distinguishing details between firms - I think that would be the general rule: screen with as many firms as you can comfortably distinguish details between. So tl, dr, go for it.

Besides being an egregious abuse of the term "Mentor" so far, I love how my "Recruitment Mentors" are mostly just saying "Oh, hey, can't talk until after the bar exam." Great, so you can help recruit me after it no longer matters.

No. The lists of people who made journals will be sent to the entire school and the profs will be able to see them.

I've had more luck just dredging through firm websites for Cornell alums who are working in practice groups I have interest in. Yesterday I emailed associates from 14 firms I'm interviewing with and half have responded so far.

Does anyone know if the (probable) last wave of LR calls have been made/are being made today? Similarly, have ILJ calls trickled out yet?

Hopefully it doesn't come to this, but does anyone actually recommend adding "Work On Candidate for JLPP" to their resume? I'd rather pitch myself as the mysterious, anti-establishment 2L than the one who couldn't write on to a secondary journal even though we were all told that "everyone makes a journal." Again, hopefully it doesn't come to this.

I would never add that. If I miss the journal boat and have to work on, I simply won't list/mention it on my resume unless I found out before AJF that I made it on. If it's past the 22nd, just update your hard copy resume.

50-55% of the class end up on journals (many turn secondary journals down altogether); it wouldn't be the end of the world or remarkably uncommon to not have a journal, I'd reckon. If asked about it, just have a good atory

I don't know who said that "everyone gets a journal". There were 180 people who signed up for the writing comp, and even assuming that 20 of them said "F it" and didn't submit, that leaves 160 fighting for about 120 journal slots.

No. Upload resume without it. If you work on later, then just list JLPP and say at the interview that you found out you made it after the upload deadline.

JLPP after work on had 52. Law Review 44 and ILJ 42.

The latest email from Career Services is confusing. This is one of the instructions:
"Remember that if you did not include your GPA on the resume, you should request that the Registrar print your transcript without the GPA."

Shouldn't it be that if you don't have it on your resume, it SHOULD be on the transcript? Are they advising us to hide our GPAs?

Yes. Hoping employers don't calculate the grades and realize you have a sub-3.0.

That's literally the uniform standard across the legal industry. Are you serious? There's no such thing as "rounding up" when you're graded on a curve and, in some instances, rounding up could assuredly lead to you conveying a better placement within the class than you actually are.

That's like ... standard for all law schools. Even if rounding up to the nearest hundredth is too small to really inflate your GPA, allowing rounding may promote confusion/kids thinking it's okay to round to the nearest tenth, etc. better to have a blanket policy against it in all cases
