The only success story you should be concerned about is the one you write.

In all seriousness, the pace of which you get interviews probably only has a weak statistical correlation as to the ultimate determination of whether you get hired or not. I didn't get a second round interview with my current office until December. Some people in my class didn't get an offer until March.

I didn't make it past the first interview. Thought it went really damn well too.

how much does patronage matter in nyc? Or do they really look at the whole candidate? I ask because browsing upper classmen who got into offices I want last year, sometimes I think, "him? how?"

Even though I haven't heard from Manhattan for almost a month (despite being told I could hear back within two weeks of the interview), I'm not too stressed about it. That said, I did hear directly from my recommenders that Manhattan recently contacted them to ask about me. In any case, like others have mentioned, they have a looooot of apps to get through, so this is just part of the process.

How do people handle these types of questions?
Deflect. I always said that every Office has their own strengths which are appealing. Find something unique about the borough and/or the office from their webpage and ham it up. Throw in practical concerns like "shortest commute."

Get a bullshit question, respond with a bullshit answer, imo.
That's pretty much exactly what I did, lol. Just wondering if there is actually a "real" answer to this aside from my duck and roll answer (with the obvious exception of my actual top choice office).

I had my second round with Nassau. It was very different from what I expected. There were no hypos. Instead, the interview was focused on a "tell us about you, your best qualities, what makes you tick." I did horribly, having prepared for hypos and being generally bad at that kind of question, and already got my rejection.

Okay I guess they are moving slow but it's odd considering other offices are already doing 3rd rounds.

Haha sounds like me in west palm beach interview... was the most generic interview ever, just copied from an interview guide for a normal management position, or perhaps they took the top ten interview questions after a google search. What is your biggest weakness etc. Was totally unprepared for that and bombed hard.

I know someone who has a 2nd with Queens soon, and someone else who just got a call to schedule the 2nd. I think they're just moving slower.

Manhattan is doing 3rd's and even 4th's right now.

Bronx has done some 2nd rounds, and Brooklyn is calling out about 3rd's right now.

Whoa fourths? do you know if they had any special circumstances (other offer deadline, etc.) or were they just top breh interviewers?

Re. 4th's: both. I actually know someone who's flown through the first 3 in a month's time, and they're from NY. Likely to get a 4th soon because they've advanced pretty far in the other offices too.

Damn I just called Manhattan to schedule my first, and they didn't have anything available until December.

Just curious: does anyone know why some offices want a passport sized photo when you come in for later interviews?
