Re: Scheduling.

If you miss the first call and keep getting voicemails when you call back - where do you draw the line on tenacious vs. annoying/desperate? Left two voicemails since I missed the call on Thurs and called 3 separate times in addition to them. Any advice?

Haven't heard of anyone getting any news from MoFo (NY), Covington (NY), Skadden (NY), Freshfields (NY), AkinGump (NY), WilmerHale (NY), K&E (NY), Debevoise (NY), Gibson (NY), or Hogan Lovells (NY). Am I wrong about any of these?

Anonymous User wrote:I know this is not what you want to hear, but as someone who did EIW last year with ~3.5 and bid heavily New York, let me be clear: HALF of all callbacks will have gone out by the end of the day. Most large NY firms pounce within 24 hours if they want to give you a callback. If you get silence, then it is appropriate after ONE WEEK (or more) to send a letter to the partner/associate you interviewed with and say, "I am writing to reaffirm my strong interest in..." if you are truly very interested. (I got 3-4 more callbacks this way.)

tl/dr: HALF of callbacks will have gone out by the end of today.
Curious which firms that worked for.
I found that reiterating interest was most effective for non-NY offices. The reason why NY firms call you back within 24 hours from NYU/CLS is because they have no expenses associated with the CB. For offices in California/DC/London, there is a (significant) expense associated with the CB, and they want to be quite certain you are going to take the offer if given one. So definitely follow up with those non-NY offices if you're still interested.

(Some other NY offices are just disorganized, and writing to the partner who interviewed you is a good way of getting his attention and pushing him to follow up on it. I got CBs from a few Magic Circle firms that just went silent for no reason.)

Any 3L updates other than Greenberg Traurig and Cravath? I know the timeline is different for 3Ls but I was wondering if anyone has heard anything?

Read through some of the previous pages on this topic and you will see posts about cbs from many of these firms. Remember, though, that different interviewers at the same firm don't necessarily coordinate - just that interviewers tend to do all their cbs at once.

So if someone listed an interviewer with the same initials as your interviewer, that means they sent out their (at least first round of) cbs and you didn't get one. Otherwise all you know is that some cbs have gone out at that firm. Also it isn't necessarily over until you get a ding. Firms keep people on reserve, so to speak.

On that note, PLEASE remember to post the initials of your interviewer whenever you post about a ding or a cb (but especially for CBs). Thanks!
