Anyone know whether the SKGF thing on Wednesday night is worth going to? I'd have to leave at like 730 AM to make it.

Re: Loyola PLIP 2014 Thread - Strategies?
I went last year and have mixed feelings. If you're going to chat with some law students/your friends about random BS, the obvious answer is no. If you're there to talk with attorneys/interviewers, or if you're interested in SKGF (great firm, but DC-only), I'd say absolutely. I actually ran into two of my interviewers and it made things much easier the next day when it was "hey good to see you again" rather than "tell me about yourself."bulinus wrote:Anyone know whether the SKGF thing on Wednesday night is worth going to? What are you guys doing for a writing sample? I only really have my memo from first semester LRW (A- paper), but I think that's kind of weak. Nothing I'm doing in my job this summer equates to a great sample though.

Yeah I'm examining patents for the summer so I'm just using my memo or brief.. I did well on them but they're extremely short so idk if that's badSpartan_Alum_12 wrote:What are you guys doing for a writing sample? Some of the firms set up a separate room from their interview rooms - the hospitality suites were all in the corners, I think. They usually have someone from recruiting and an associate or two to answer questions about the firm/chit-chat. They also provide snacks (cookies, bagels, danish, etc) and water/coffee. Take copies of your resume with you and treat the 'chit-chat' like an interview. If a spot opens up in their interview schedule due to cancellations/no-shows, it's a chance for them to pull resumes they liked and use the open spot to interview you (I had this happen last year and it turned into a call-back). It's also a place to grab 'swag' - reusable bags, pens, highlighters, stress balls, etc. Last year one firm had popcorn from some popular place I cannot remember the name ofSpartan_Alum_12 wrote:Seconded.lhanvt13 wrote:Can someone enlighten me on hospitality suites ? awesome. I guess the only time to stop by is between interviews... this is gonna be a tight schedule.Anonymous User wrote:Some of the firms set up a separate room from their interview rooms - the hospitality suites were all in the corners, I think. Re: Loyola PLIP 2014 Thread - Strategies?
Couple questions for you all:
1. Anyone's alternates turn into an interview yet?
2. Is it safe to say that if the instructions in the "additional information" section of the scheduled interview page in simplicity asks you to "Please bring your resume and law school transcript to the interview."..then the firm is specifically looking for patent litigation and not patent prosecution? My reasoning here is that if the firm was looking for patent prosecution, they would ask you to bring undergrad transcripts etc.

How is everyone tackling pre-selects for those firms interviewing for multiple locations in their slot?
I have been advised to always bid on the largest office first and foremost.

It looks like I am scheduled at times for a couple of my interview slots where I was initially listed as an alternate. Just to confirm, does this mean that other people cancelled and I have a spot?

Re: Loyola PLIP 2014 Thread - Strategies?
thinking i'm going to go in and let the interview go where they take it and roll with the punches. Eventually I'm sure that the topic of where you want to be, or where they have programs, will come up. I'm not too worried about itmediocrity wrote:Right.KingsCup wrote:meaning ones that just put "firmwide?"mediocrity wrote:Interviews with multi-office firms that did not separate by city.clarify?

Your guess is as good as mine, but I had a movement as well. One of my alts is on the schedule tab.Anonymous User wrote:It looks like I am scheduled at times for a couple of my interview slots where I was initially listed as an alternate. Any more alternate movement out there? The schedules are suppose to be finalized today. Was expecting to wake up to some movement of my own (I have multiple first or second alternates), but nothing so far..

That's prob what id assume. I'm wondering tho, if they ask for undergrad transcripts, are they only looking for pros?Anonymous User wrote:Alt (1) just turned into interview for me, so there is movement....

I had an alt (2) and an (8) surprisingly turn into interviews for me, but my top choice was an alternate without a number next to it. I had assumed that this meant I was the first alternate but apparently not?Anonymous User wrote:No alt movement for me. My alternate spot didn't have a number though, so who knows

As I understand it, some employers have ranked their alternates and others have not. An alternate with no number next to it is likely from an employer who hasn't ranked the alternates.Anonymous User wrote:I had an alt (2) and an (8) surprisingly turn into interviews for me, but my top choice was an alternate without a number next to it.
