Well, at least it's comforting to see that people with better stats than mine are also experiencing silence.

Yeah, the judge wants a two year term. I wouldn't ask.

Re: 2012 Clerkship Application Thread
FWIW, I started parlay calls to Philly and it seems like some of the judges were out today. I don't know if that means they already selected who to interview or if they have not done it yet. In both cases, the clerks took my name and said they would check with the judge when I got back. Another clerk said her judge is still going through the pile. I wonder if I jumped the gun on the parlay calls?

Re: 2012 Clerkship Application Thread
I received an interview call yesterday and sent parlay emails this morning.
I figured I needed to plan how long I will stay in that area in order to schedule subsequent interviews and also wanted to try and get a look at my app as early as possible if they hadn't yet.
Yet to receive responses, though, so maybe they were miffed.

2 Qs:
1) What is generally the interview to offer ratio?
2) What if it doesn't say anywhere whether the interview I got was for a 1 or 2 yr clerkship? (E.g., paper app, nothing online) When do I ask or should I call career services?

1) Anecdotal, but one COA judge I interviewed with talks to maybe 10-12 candidates for 3 spots. So pretty good odds, but not a slam dunk by any means.Anonymous User wrote:2 Qs:

2) Dunno, but this seems like something perfectly acceptable to ask about at the interview.

fwiw, i'm top 10% at a t6 and got interviews only from judges my professors had connections to. this whole process seems to be mostly about luck.Anonymous User wrote:odds of still getting a call today? top 10% at a t6...scratching my head as to how this all went so wrong.

Re: 2012 Clerkship Application Thread
1) it varies immensely. Some judges interview 25+ people for 3-4 slots, whereas others interview a 1:1 ratio of interviewees to clerkship spots (although the 1:1 ratio is less common for on-plan craziness)Anonymous User wrote:1) Anecdotal, but one COA judge I interviewed with talks to maybe 10-12 candidates for 3 spots. 2) Ask when you get offered the interview. You can even ask about offer policy/timeline to help yourself strategize.

Re: 2012 Clerkship Application Thread
Of the three interviews I recived last year (with stats worse than yours), one judge received a call from another judge on my behalf and two were looking for students from their alma maters. It is far, far less a strict numbers game than OCI is.Anonymous User wrote:odds of still getting a call today? top 10% at a t6...scratching my head as to how this all went so wrong.

Same poster as quoted. So far, got calls from one of the less-competitive circuit courts and two district courts.Applying as a 3L

Credited. Also, if you're dead-set on clerking, look at magistrates around you and state clerkships.Anonymous User wrote:wait longer?Anonymous User wrote:Can someone give advice regarding what to do if we did not get a call the first day?

Re: 2012 Clerkship Application Thread
Wait a few days to give the judges a chance. After that, reach out to your recommenders and ask them to make calls for you to 2 or 3 judges you really want (pick realistic judges so their calls aren't wasted). Send out another mailing if you are up for it. After that, take a deep breath and remember this doesn't have to be it for you. You can and should reapply. Alums with good work experience have much better odds than 2Ls/3Ls. Good luck and hang in there.Anonymous User wrote:Can someone give advice regarding what to do if we did not get a call the first day?
