Re: Berkeley OCIP
Transfer here, done with cb season unless someone has heard back from the one's I'm silent on; presuming dings at this point.
8 cbs, 5 dings, rest silent.
cbs @ sidley-dc, hogan-dc, weil-sv, irell-la, mofo-sf, quinn-sf, simpson-thacher-pa, ropes-ny
dings @ latham, gibson, arnold, cov-dc, keker-sf
silent (pvt sector) @ cadwalader-ny, finnegan-dc, king & spalding-dc, steptoe-dc,
silent (public sector) @ alameda, sf, riverside DA; disability rights advocates, wash dc public defender office.
P.S. - someone on the blog has Alameda +, is this legit? The DA told me they wouldn't make decisions till early October, which makes me wonder whether I should even look at Nuts & Boalts in the future.

Thank you. That makes you a little bit more special than the average transfer. Congrats, and good luck with your CBs!

Re: Berkeley OCIP
thanks, boalt's been a great school to transfer into, amazing vibe, i love the neighborhood surrounding the law school, this place rocks.
I can say this one thing; I love the shit out of my old school, amazing people, etc. - but you guys are so much more laid back and mellow, I feel like I'm back in college or something.

I dunno, everyone here seems either high or really content with life compared to where I came from, where btw nobody pursued public interest as a "choice"worldtraveler wrote: If we're laid back, I'm scared of what other law schools are like.

Re: Berkeley OCIP
You either 1) haven't met many of us yet, 2) it's really scary at other law schools, 3) I'm really jaded right now, or 4) it's too early in the semester to notice all the crazy. Maybe it's all 4.Anonymous User wrote:I dunno, everyone here seems either high or really content with life compared to where I came from.worldtraveler wrote: If we're laid back, I'm scared of what other law schools are like.

Do you guys know anyone who got a Wilson Sonsini Palo Alto offer and how many days after the callback that was? I'm at a ccn and it doesn't seem like anyone from my school knows.

If so, if you can please state your callback->offer/ding time lapse, I would greatly appreciate it.

Bad day in the mail today: DING DING DING
One from a firm I actually met with in Phase II; one from a firm I resume dropped at Hotel Durant; and . . . [drum roll please] one I didn't even apply to!
In the interest of highlighting the absurdity of that last one, I'll just post my mock response letter:

Dear & Cromwell:
Thank you for sending me a letter telling me that I didn't get a callback that I hadn't even applied for. No wonder you have so many qualified applicants you are not able to offer call backs to-- anyone who ranked your firm 35th on b-Line still counts as an applicant.
Just to put your mind at ease, it is unlikely that I would have joined your firm even if I had been offered a screening interview, a callback or a job offer. I would prefer to work with a firm who can properly operate a mailmerge so that the first name appears in the salutation (see above), or alternatively, including the more formal "Mr." before the surname. Plus, your letter structure looks like your firm is getting paid by the tab: one tab before street name in my address? two before the city name/state/ZIP? Interesting. I could have sworn left justified was the industry standard. And three or four tabs before each paragraph? Bold style choice. I have adopted it here; thanks for the tip. [edit: rather, I tried. TLS takes out the extra spaces....]
Very, very truly yours,
Me.
