Do some firms not do screeners at all for 1L SA/Diversity positions and you just go straight to CB?

I had two firms go directly to callback, but that may have been because I was coming in from out of town.

Yeah that's weird, I have a screener with them. Wonder how they pick people to go straight to callbacks.

Only 3/8 of my callbacks began as screeners. The only firms I had screeners with were in secondary markets that I'm not currently living in, but I also had straight to callbacks for those markets. The screeners were also all before grades came out, though, which might make a difference because my grades were pretty good.

Regardless, I think that straight-to-callback is pretty common.

Protip: make sure to wait out all of your offers and/or ask for extensions on them if you are waiting for a fellowship CB.
otherwise you might end up missing out on a great opportunity :/
