STB is probs decreasing its advance by 1k because it anticipates raising salaries by 1k+ per biweekly pay period. NY to 190 confirmed.

His type of work is still tough to get a non big/mid law job for as a junior. If you rule out biglaw and gov, there isn't much left in this case.A. I bet it's not that hard to get a job in a WNBA front office. He could be a cap expert.wiz wrote:His type of work is still tough to get a non big/mid law job for as a junior. Definitely true. I'm sure he could take on a Vlade Divac/Doc Rivers role in the Chicago Sky front office.Elston Gunn wrote:I bet it's not that hard to get a job in a WNBA front office. To add on top of what I just said (Chicago summer)--one attorney told me they hoped the announcement would be made prior to this year's OCI (for recruiting purposes)--and was disappointed that it wasn't. I've also been told a February/March announcement may happen.
I have no idea when it will happen. But almost everyone at my firm basically says it's happening across all offices at some point.

I want a poll for NY to 190 believers vs. non-believers.
Because either more people got a lot better at playing along with the NY to 190 joke, or some of you are starting to actually believe we'll have NY to 190k.

How about a compromise: NY to 175?

Agreed. I would've picked a school offering full $ and gone into public interest. No one will plan to take on 200K in debt to only make 100K a year.legends159 wrote:$100K is not enough to incentivize the kind of people biglaw wants to recruit to forgo three years of gainful employment to take on debt and go to school and then commit to being available 24/7 as a junior associate subject to BS fire drills doing meaningless crap that builds no transferrable skills only to get pushed out by year 5.Ron Howard wrote:Yeah, $160K starting is a little excessive. What a middling day it'll be in 2017 when the move is actually to something like $175k.

It's a survival mechanism. NY to 190 (or more reasonably 175) is one of a diminishing number of motivating concepts that keeps me from dropping out and moving to Ecuador and/or killing myself.smaug wrote:I want a poll for NY to 190 believers vs. non-believers.
