The consensus is that you may be on a wait list, so sit tight. If a week or so goes by then I'd say it's 99.9% to 100% no, though.

But wait, assuming you are on a waitlist and won't get in for another week, won't the other 2 journals get back to you before then? how long do you have to accept offers?

If you are accepted off a waitlist, you can rescind acceptance to the journal you originally accepted. They will then go to their waitlist, and so on and so forth until all the dust settles.

Heard back from Law Review! How much of a bump to the real GPA does this give? I"m at a ~3.3 no real softs except a couple of years in low-level consulting.

Top 10% here, didn't make law review. I am interested in transactional work. How will this impact my AJF prospects? And should I prepare any differently assuming that I did not in fact make law review?

First, congrats. Second, it will obviously be helpful but its hard to measure in terms of GPA. I think its fair to say that you will convert more screeners to CBs than the average 3.3 applicant, and you will have something to really highlight besides your work experience. You can, however, go into AJF more confident that you can effectively stand out and market yourself. It depends on whether you want corp or lit, but try to think of a way to relate LR and its relevant skills (e.g. writing, attention to detail, legal research) applicable to the practice groups you want to sell.

That goes to everyone with journals. It is also a way to sound interested about the type of law that you want to practice (e.g. "I really want to write my note about activist shareholders," or "I plan on writing on current circuit split X.").

Symplicity. I only saw 2-3 (if that) who requested references. Just bring like 5 copies a day and you'll be fine, I'd imagine. I'm erring on the side of bringing 10 resumes, 10 transcripts and 5 references, 5 writing samples a day I think. I'm 100% sure it's gonna be massive overkill though

Did anyone else find open slots for firms they bid at times they were free? Why wouldn't they have just given me that slot to begin with? Happened with two firms, both of which by the time I clicked through were gone.

I remember Lavitz saying that calls sometimes went out at like 7pm? it may very well be that they haven't gone out yet and are on the way tonight. Or tomorrow may be the day?

So how has the waitlist for Law Review worked over past years? Like how many calls would come in between now and Friday? I guess it depends on transfers, etc., but I was wondering it there's an average based on past trends.

I'm sure someone would have posted if the other journals made calls today. They likely did not. I haven't heard of anything. Maybe tomorrow.

Question. I currently have 8 interviews on Wednesday. I don't think it should be too bad, but I'm now trying to solicit some more interviews with firms that I missed through bidding and couldn't get via open slot. A few of the firms that I'm particularly eyeing are on Tuesday. Would it be too much to take on 9 interviews in one day? And if not, what is the best way to mentally prepare yourself for that kind of day.


For full disclosure I'm at 6,8,2 over the 3 days.

ETA: I've already sent out a soliciting e-mail to a firm that is coming on Tuesday, so my total could be at 9, potentially, meaning any more may slide me into 10. At what point should I draw the line?

FYI on this no NY firms that I know of call references. Almost all the major DC firms do: W&C, A&P, WH DC, Cleary DC. So realistically you won't need much in terms of references but have a sheet to give to the select few that will ask.

The likely reason for this is that a transfer who has left for (debatably) greener pastures had the slot, and now it was released to the open slots pool.
