Will be having Exec Panel Rounds at all offices (NYC) soon (obviously not including SI). Anyone with experience in these "do or die" rounds have any advice?
Thanks muchos!

Re: District Attorney's Offices 2015
Congrats on your performance so far! I've heard conflicting things from different sources. Some say 3rd rounds are more intense/combative, especially RE hypos; others say that the 3rd rounds were more relaxed, with the panel more trying to get a feel for who you are and asking why prosecution/public service/5 yrs from now type questions. IMHO it depends on what they heard from your 2nd round interviewers. If the 2nd round panel threw you lots of hypos and you crushed them, maybe they made a note of that and the exec panel now wants to see other side of you (and vice versa)Anonymous User wrote:Will be having Exec Panel Rounds at all offices (NYC) soon (obviously not including SI). Got the snail-mail Miami invite a week back, anybody have more info on the interviewing process/chances of getting a job? I don't want to throw down on a $500 ticket if I don't have a shot.

Re: District Attorney's Offices 2015
We usually hire a class of 30-40, so probably better than most other offices, just for sheer number of open spots. The interviewing goes in 3 rounds, if you're from out of town and you've do well, they usually have you do 1 and 2 and occasionally 3 all in 1 fell swoop.coldshoulder wrote:Got the snail-mail Miami invite a week back, anybody have more info on the interviewing process/chances of getting a job? Re: District Attorney's Offices 2015
is it possible to lateral to a different office in nyc if you start with one of the county DA offices, after your three year commitment of course? I'm asking mostly because I plan on moving eventuallly, and at that point the office im more likely to get will go from being convenient to super far.

Definitely possible. I'm at one of the NYC offices, and I work with someone who lateral'ed into our current one. I've also seen job listings from specific boroughs asking for lateral hires.Anonymous User wrote:is it possible to lateral to a different office in nyc if you start with one of the county DA offices, after your three year commitment of course? ETA Slightly uncommon however

Been interviewing at all the NYC offices, and I got the "what's your top choice" from an office that wasn't. I certainly didn't lie and say them (what happens if they offer me after my actual top choice does, right).
How do people handle these types of questions?

Thanks.

I've never been asked that, or anything similar, in the 10+ interviews I had. It may come up on a background questionnaire, but not in an interview.Anonymous User wrote:something I haven't seen, do they flat out ask you questions like "have you smoked pot in high school" or stuff along those lines?

Deflect. I always said that every Office has their own strengths which are appealing. Find something unique about the borough and/or the office from their webpage and ham it up. Throw in practical concerns like "shortest commute."
Get a bullshit question, respond with a bullshit answer, imo.

Each office has literally thousands of applicants to go through. It's too early to be so dismal.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
