I have a few questions:

1. Can someone tell me more about Fulbright & Jaworski's reputation and any interview/CB tips?

2. If I start at a NY firm (V50), can I lateral back to TX eventually? What are the advantages/disadvantages of NY big law vs. TX big law? Does anyone know if lockstep is better at NY firms to compensate for the high cost of living?

Just speaking to the money: You will be making a lot more money in Texas, initially and probably later on. Even with a less generous nonlock step system. Keep in mind that there are satellite offices in Dallas and Houston that still follow NY lock step (and these people's actual take home CRUSHES NY associates' take home).

It's not. They are redoing the schedules. You can actually call them and ask where you would stand with preselects/alternates if you cancelled any.

Rejected by A&O via email. I would assume this means callbacks have gone out. What about the Texas-based firms? The Texas-based firms? Callbacks?

Akin Gump, Baker Botts, King & Spalding (actually based in Atlanta - which is essentially Texas as far as New Yorkers are concerned) anyone? Paul Weiss? Haynes & Boone?

Or Cahill?

K&L Gates is a large, international, V50 firm with a good size office in Dallas.

Firm still has strong Dallas roots as many of the partners and senior associates were formerly a part of Hughes & Luce (prior to the merger/acquisition).

How do firms like Baker Botts handle multiple office interviews? I found out I was preselected for 4 BB offices. Would they do a callback at just 1, or could there be callbacks at more than 1. Same with AG (2); Haynes & Boone (2); Weil (2); jones day (3). Most firms only selected me for one office. These didn't. So how is this going to work?

If that's how BB views it, it sounds fine. Honestly, the others are just Houston and NYC. If a firm can't see the logic of a TX student bidding on Houston and NYC for international corporate work, then its probably better I get out of this profession sooner rather than later.

Seriously, I have heard nothing about CB's going out for Paul Weiss, Baker Botts, King & Spalding, Cahill, or Akin Gump. What's going on with these?

Regarding firms such as AK and BB, they are likely waiting to interview the UT students. UT oci is not for another week.

Does anyone have any info on Jackson Walker? I bid on their Houston office but was "not invited" in OCI; however, their published hiring guidelines say "top 50%" (I am .07 above top quarter), and their Austin office invited members of the Texas Law Review to an exclusive reception.

I am trying to find out if they are just super exclusive, despite their guidelines, or if they engage in yield protection, because I am interested in pursuing an interview with them.

Gotta be YP. I can't imagine JW is very exclusive.
