Re: Miami biglaw
so far have 3 callbacks at miami firms, median at DCNG. Only one is "big law", the other two pay a little below market and are 100-200 attorneys. Still waiting on 4 screeners.
Miami is much harder than NYC. I went NYC heavy at oci and have 3 v100 callbacks so far. Miami is just brutal in general :-/

I'm a local with several V10 callbacks and almost no love in Miami. It's really, really crazy hard to break in.Anonymous User wrote:so far have 3 callbacks at miami firms, median at DCNG. 3 Miami callbacks on the books so far, with another ~6 or so screeners still floating around somewhere in the bay. I'm a T14 non-Miami-native, but I have some ties to the area, a convincing interest in practicing there, and a couple solid years of networking under my belt.

Keep pushing. You can probably still find a spot somewhere if this is where you want to be.Anonymous User wrote:I'm a local with several V10 callbacks and almost no love in Miami. Re: Miami biglaw
Pretty huge variation. Some firms don't pay bonuses. Others will be around 5-10k for 1st and 2nd years. Some follow NY, like Boies.kcam1991 wrote:What do bonuses look like at Miami firms?

When were your H&K CBs? I'm still waiting for a ding or a CB.
Did you get dinged after interviewing with Boies? Haven't heard a peep from them since applying.

Congrats, and yeah, a bloodbath. I'm not complaining; I've got an offer at the firm I did my SA for this summer (1L SA) and didn't do OCI, just mass-mailed down here to hedge my bets. Very nearly top 5% at CCN, ties to the area, lots of work experience, and got ONE response to the mass-mail. Really tough nut.Anonymous User wrote:Withdrawing from the market as I accepted in NYC today. Good luck all, Miami is a bloodbath

Damn, son. Anecdotal evidence, both personal and second-hand, indicate that soft factors like networking prowess, diversity, alum base, and other factors completely beyond our control, are much more important than in other markets.Anonymous User wrote:Congrats, and yeah, a bloodbath. My CB at H&K was just under two weeks ago. Got a letter in the mail today, thought it was a ding, but turned out to be my expense reimbursement. Dodged a bullet there.
