One piece of the puzzle is the clerkship-to-corp step to begin with. Why and how did OP make this move? OP owes me no answer, but I'm going to speculate. I think OP interviewed swearing that despite the clerkship, they really wants corp. Then two months in asks to transfer to lit. Maybe this was planned, maybe it wasn't. But I can see how that would piss off a firm more than your usual request.
