Lol I hate that, as well as "gently following up". Just because you say your doing it gently doesn't make it gentle...

I generally say “please see attached” but this isn’t something I’ve ever devoted serious energy to thinking about.

It is a weird thing to care about. I’ve only thought about it because I’ve seen it come up in “lawyer writing tics to avoid” type lists. But can’t imagine yelling at someone over it.

Also, "please see attached" is something you only see from TTTier firms.

Funny thing is (sadly this is 100% true), I lateraled and mentioned this war story to one of my new colleagues, who told me “actually, <new partner> gets upset if you use anything other than ‘Attached is…’ in your emails.” Anyway, I finally found myself a normal workplace since then after yet another lateral move.
