Re: How would a war between US and Russia impact biglaw employment?
This thread makes my head hurt. Are there really people here who think US soldiers are going to be fighting in Ukraine?
Also to answer OP question, a war between Russia and the U.S. would create a lot of openings at the associate, counsel, and partner levels in at least NYC and DC as the cities are hit with nuclear weapons.
A war between Russia and Ukraine will disrupt markets for a bit and spike oil prices for a bit but should not throw off things longer term.

In all seriousness, bad time to make the move to inhouse?

Unless your inhouse place is uniquely reliant on Russian oligarchs, why would it be a good or bad time?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 10:52 amIn all seriousness, bad time to make the move to inhouse?

Good point - I guess I am thinking more about overall impact on the economy and chance of getting let go inhouse vs at a law firm (I view my chances at my law firm low, but I am also miserable there) if there is a recession.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 11:50 amUnless your inhouse place is uniquely reliant on Russian oligarchs, why would it be a good or bad time?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 10:52 amIn all seriousness, bad time to make the move to inhouse?

Fuck this thread. I have family in both Russia and Ukraine and can barely sleep or work these days and some folks are still worried about $2500 after tax raises and their futures serving companies as lawyers. Worry about the future of the world and the innocent lives being lost.

Sorry about your family. Although some posts in here have been ridiculous, it is not mutually exclusive to (a) worry about future of world / innocent lives lost and (b) how an unnecessary war by a crazy man might affect those of us who don't have connections to Russia/Ukraine. And since this is a forum on legal employment, (b) makes sense.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 2:53 pmFuck this thread. Is the premise that life grinds to a halt because terrible things are happening? Because there was (is?) a war going on in Ethiopia just a few months ago and I'm not sure anyone kept to that standard.
