putting aside that ignoring emails is unprofessional, it's like ... also an ineffective strategy? if this midlevel needs staffing, she's not gonna just "forget." if I were her, and you ignored my email (has happened), I would just ... send a follow-up? and then if you ignored that one I would literally call you and ask you if you missed my emails
I don't really understand the gameplan here. are you hoping that if you ignore this associate's email, she will find someone else? if that's your goal, say you're busy. accomplishes the same thing and you won't look like a fucking dumbass

Don't ignore her emails. Delay your responses, especially on nights and weekends, and do your best to turn down work, even if it requires making up excuses (weddings, family visits, etc.).
