A friend of mine at K&E NY corporate suggested to me that they are a few mid level defections away from completely imploding and that it’s impossible to find juniors to work deals anymore... given the size of the signing bonuses they’re offering I feel like that tracks and I wonder if they will actually cross the precipice. If eat what you kill partners can’t staff their deals, things will get ugly.
Nyc to 210k....?!!!???

I mean Other than throwing $ at the problem to stop people from leaving law or going in house, what’s the solution there?
It feels like the solution is to lower their standards. It's not like we're lacking a supply of lawyers.

Believe me, they have been. In my KE office, associates are miffed that laterals from low ranked law schools, or low ranked firms, are coming in and getting huge signing bonuses, while they get nothing. KE values laterals above all else though, so no surprise.

Might be lacking a supply of midlevels with the right skill set willing to come in and get absolutely crushed like that though.

This likely isn’t the type of thing where you can just throw first years right out of school at the problem and expect it to help.

Those pre-existing associates need to individually demand retention bonuses. Closed mouth don't get fed.

Also lmfao@ being "miffed" about laterals from low ranked law schools. Logo facing out hasn't lost a step.

Has anyone noticed work slowing down a bit in cap markets? I think so with the SPAC bubble pop. For context, I’m a new lateral and have not been staffed on anything new currently/my other deals are on hold. Could just be a blip.
